Reports: €35m midfielder set to stay at Milan despite attempts from Fiorentina

Midfielder Lucas Paqueta looks all set to remain at AC Milan with a deadline day move unlikely for the Brazil international, a report claims.

Paqueta has been the centre of a storm recently having lost his spot in the starting XI with the switch to a 4-4-2 formation by head coach Stefano Pioli.

The former Flamengo man – who arrived a year ago in a €35m deal – asked not to be called up for the recent trip to Brescia after it was reported by numerous outlets that he was treated for stress and anxiety following the 3-2 win over Udinese.

According to Friday’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews.it), Fiorentina have made an attempt to sign Paqueta and there were even contacts between Milan and La Viola on Thursday.

The formula of a dry loan, however, does not convince the Florence club who instead would like to insert an option to buy. The deal is very unlikely to go through today as Milan would need to find a replacement, the report claims.

Meanwhile, il Corriere dello Sport are also reporting that Paqueta is set to stay as the Diavolo would only sanction his exit on an outright permanent deal like the one which saw Krzysztof Piatek move to Hertha Berlin yesterday.
