Reports: Milan and Everton express interest in signing €22m Man Utd defender

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan still want to re-sign Diogo Dalot from Manchester United but face competition from Everton, according to reports.

Dalot was brought in by Milan ahead of the season as they needed a full-back that could play on both sides of the defence. It was a season of ups and downs for the Portuguese youngster, but the 22-year-old played a lot and was clearly trusted by Pioli, leading to speculation that he wants him back for 2021-22.

According to Nicolo Schira on Twitter, Milan are indeed pushing to welcome Dalot back to the club and their intention is to sign him from United on loan with an option to buy inserted.

However, Everton are also interested in signing the former Porto man, according to The Athletic. It is believed that Dalot was on Carlo Ancelotti’s shortlist last summer, but the Toffees never made an official bid, though now Rafa Benitez would welcome him.

Dalot joined United from Porto when Jose Mourinho was in charge for a fee of £19m (€22m) as per Wikipedia, and it remains to be seen what the Red Devils will accept to let the 22-year-old leave.
