Reports: Milan watch on amid favourable clause as Paqueta postpones renewal talks

By Isak Möller -

Lucas Paqueta left AC Milan after just one and half years at the club and was sold for significantly less than the Rossoneri initially paid. However, amid recent developments, the blow could soften.

Milan paid just shy of €40m to Flamengo for the services of Paqueta back in January of 2019, also signing Krzysztof Piatek in the same window. Both failed to perform in the end and the Rossoneri sold Paqueta to Lyon for €20m plus bonuses.

The sale resulted in a capital loss for Milan (they needed around €27m to break even) but they could recoup some of their money soon. In fact, they added a 15% resale clause in Paqueta’s contract when he joined Lyon.

According to L’Equipe, as cited by Calciomercato.com, several teams are interested in Paqueta and he decided to postpone renewal talks until after the season (current deadline is 2025). PSG are one of the teams interested and a move this summer isn’t unlikely.

Milan, as Calciomercato add, are watching on with great interest as the Brazilian midfielder will most likely sell for more than Lyon paid (maybe around €30m). That would mean an extra €4.5m for the Rossoneri.

  1. That stupid Giampaolo using castilejo play for SS while he have rebic and leao that can play SS. More worst play Suso as AMF and not using paqueta as AMF . I don’t know who advice Paolo Maldini that time sign Giampaolo , that was disaster and wasting piatek & paqueta talent and throw out one season for nothing

    1. relax my dude. maldini himself said he was a noob just until the new management arrive, where he is asked to be in a more important figure in club.
