Reports: Milan make opening €35m Barella bid; Inter remain in pole

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have launched a €35million bid for Cagliari midfielder Nicolo Barella but Inter remain in pole, reports claim.

Speculation emerged from the Italian papers on Tuesday that the Rossoneri have entered the race for the Italy international at the last minute, attempting to hijack rivals Inter in their pursuit.

It was even suggested that Milan were considering offering Patrick Cutrone plus cash in a swap deal to try and sign Barella.

Now, il Corriere della Sera provide an update on the situation by stating that the Diavolo have launched their first bid: €35million plus performance-related bonuses, with no players involved going the other way.

The paper reports that Inter remain in pole to land the 22-year-old, while Gianluca Di Marzio also lists the Nerazzurri as favourites in the race.
