Reports: Milan centre-back close to sealing loan move to Argentine powerhouses

By Oliver Fisher -

Another player will soon pass through the AC Milan exit door as Marco Pellegrino is closing in on a new loan spell, according to reports.

Milan announced just under one year ago that they had completed the permanent signing of Pellegrino from Club Atlético Platense. The Argentine signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028, and arrived as a bit of an unknown quantity.

He had to be patient and wait for his chance with the Rossoneri under Stefano Pioli, and it ultimately came during a match against Napoli away from home in which the injury crisis worsened. However, he too was unable to see out the game and came off.

Pellegrino was loaned out to Salernitana for the second half of the 2023-24 campaign to try and get more minutes which he did, though they were relegated and thus the search for new accommodation began.

It was reported by this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) that the 21-year-old is closing in on a dry loan back to his home country Argentina, more specifically to Independiente.

Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com is also reporting that the defender will head to Independiente on a season-long loan, with no mention of an option or obligation to buy being included.

  1. We bought this player for the same price Bologna bought Calafiori. The first is struggling to play first team football and the second is worth 50 mil € . This shows you that we have clowns running the club

    1. It was actually Pioli who chose to “pass” on Calafiori. He was the one who preferred Pellegrino. Furlani wanted to sign Calafiori but Management gave Pioli more power over transfers after Maldini left…

      1. Who signs the cheques? Wait…Pioli right?
If you honestly believe that Pioli had any power then I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. In any cooperation which is what Milan is…the buck stops with the owner and or the CEO.
And Maldini did not leave he was thrown out like a dog by a management who has shit for brains and has no idea how to run a club like Milan. Gerry had no idea who Milan was when he bought this club. Furlani is a hedge fund manager with little experience in being CEO or running a club like Milan and Moncada is a Scout…that’s what he needs to be doing.
It’s simple, if you want success bring in the right people place in the right positions and provide them with all the tools required to succeed…not rocket science! Gerry, wants to buy low and sell high making Milan a feeder club! Maybe this is what you and other makeshift fans want this great club to be!

  2. People really need to stop crying about calafiori. If milan bought him he wouldn’t have played as much as he did at bologna and wouldn’t have developed like he did..

You people really think a 4M Italian purchase would’ve gotten sufficient game time? Idi0ts
