Reports: Milan serious about €20m Salzburg star for two reasons but watch out for Lazio

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have a serious interest in signing Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai in the next transfer window but face competition, reports claim.

It has been claimed that if Ralf Rangnick should arrive, Milan would have a very important joker card to use when negotiating, and Tuttosport recently reported that Ivan Gazidis is ready to sanction a €20m bid.

The same outlet have stated that Liverpool, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are all interested in the 19-year-old, whose contract with the Austrian club expires in 2022.

Radio Rossonera’s Pietro Balzano Prota – during a Twitch stream – revealed more information about the situation surrounding the Hungarian.

As per @SightsMilan, the journalist confirmed that Szoboszlai remains one of the most concrete objectives for Milan this summer because of a couple of key reasons.

First of all there is the price-quality ratio, with a number of outlets claiming the teenager would cost around €20m, and secondly there is the fact both chief scout Geoffrey Moncada and prospective next manager Ralf Rangnick like the player.

Meanwhile, il Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) are also reporting that Milan are thinking of reinforcing their midfield with Szoboszlai of Salzburg. However, they add that Lazio have been working on his transfer ‘for some time’.
