Reports: Simon Kjaer exits early during Milan’s win over Cagliari – the latest on his condition

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will be left sweating over the status of Simon Kjaer ahead of Saturday’s game against Atalanta with the centre-back having gone off against Cagliari.

There was a sour moment a few minutes before the interval when Romagnoli went into the book for a late impediment meaning he will miss the game against Atalanta having accumulated too many yellow cards.

Pioli made an interesting change at the break as Kjaer made way for Pierre Kalulu, with several journalists reporting that the Dane was suffering from lower back pain.

According to what is being reported by a number of sources including Pietro Balzano Prota and MilanNews, Kjaer was forced to leave the field due to a problem with his sciatic nerve. We await further updates on his condition.

Matteo Gabbia should now miss Saturday’s game – as will the COVID-positive quartet of Rade Krunic, Ante Rebic, Hakan Calhanoglu and Theo Hernandez – with Saelemaekers and Romagnoli to add to the absence list due to suspension.
