Mattia Caldara of AC Milan

Reports: Venezia agree loan with option to buy deal for Caldara – the details

AC Milan and Venezia have reached an agreement over defender Mattia Caldara and it will not be a dry loan, according to reports.

According to the latest from Calciomercato.com, in today’s meeting with Milan an agreement was found over a formula that will see Caldara join Venezia on loan with an option to buy. THEhe centre-back arrived at Milan in the summer of 2018, as part of  the operation with Juventus that saw the return of Leonardo Bonucci to Turin, but he was unable to make his mark on the Rossoneri.

He played only 155 minutes for Milan in two appearances due to a serious knee injury. He was loaned out to Atalanta in January 2020 but returned at the end of the season after they decided not to use their option to buy, and now a new adventure awaits.

The deal will be a loan with option to buy, with Milan paying part of the salary, which is around €2.2m net per season. Caldara has a contract with the Rossoneri until 2023, and weighs €14.4m on the budget due to residual value after amortisation.

MilanNews also confirm the report that it will be a loan with option to buy deal.

  1. Woooooow what? We hate him that much that we’re giving a loan with OPTION?? As well as PAYING PART OF HIS SALARY???? WHAAAT? If you’re going to pay some of his salry just keep him, he’s a very capable backup and will be useful throughout the season. It’s getting harder and harder to enjoy supporting my boyhood club… sad..

  2. Caldara really is a pain in the ass. We cannot sell him so we have to loan him out until 2023. It was better to keep Bonucci for 2018-19 season rather than swapping him and gaining not a single penny.
