Repubblica: Daniel Maldini could make first Serie A start for Milan as Pioli battles crisis

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli could hand Daniel Maldini his first ever Serie A start for the club on Saturday against Bologna, a report claims.

Just as it seemed as though the Rossoneri were starting to get on top of the injury situation, Pioli has been handed yet another crisis to deal with in the attacking department. This is because Hakan Calhanoglu is currently out with Coronavirus and Brahim Diaz picked up a muscle problem during Tuesday’s cup game against Inter.

According to La Repubblica (via MilanNews), Milan will certainly have to do without Brahim Diaz and also Calhanoglu, unless the latter is tests negative in the next few hours. Without his two attacking midfielders, Pioli has yet to decide who to field in that position against the Rossoblu.

However, the paper confirms other reports by stating that among the various options is Daniel Maldini, who is yet to start a league game for the club. It is possible that other players could be adapted too.
