Repubblica: Details of Milan and Inter’s plans for San Siro repurposing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan and Inter presented their proposal to the City Council regarding the repurposing of the current San Siro stadium on Tuesday.

The two clubs want to construct new state-of-the-art home as was revealed late last year, with Italian firm Manica and American giants Populous the two competing firms trying to land the project.

It was confirmed that the two clubs would present two hypotheses regarding the repurposing of the current Meazza to the Council on Tuesday, both in compliance with the agreement reached in a previous meeting.

Today’s edition of Repubblica (via MilanNews.it) outlines the plans by claiming that – if approved – the current San Siro would be partially demolished.

Milan and Inter intend to maintain part of the stands of the current facility and transform the pitch into a space for football and basketball fields, plus athletics and climbing.

It has been previously suggested that the future of the current stadium is what is holding up the entire process, so this could be a potentially huge development if the Council give the green light.
