Repubblica: Ibrahimovic closing in on Milan renewal as two-year deal is not excluded

By Oliver Fisher -

Striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is closing in on signing a renewal which will keep him at AC Milan for at least another year, a report claims.

The Swede showed everyone what he is capable of at the ripe age of 38 on Wednesday night as he scored a brace to move on to nine league goals in 2020, and he also provided an assist for Hakan Calhanoglu.

According to the latest from Le Repubblica (via MilanNews), if Rangnick had arrived then Ibrahimovic’s farewell would have been certain, but with the confirmation of Stefano Pioli on the bench and Paolo Maldini as director, the scenario has changed

Now, even CEO Ivan Gazidis and owners Elliott Management have convinced themselves that the new Milan needs Zlatan, and a renewal is getting closer.

The new contract will see the 38-year-old earn €4million net plus bonuses, and while all the talk is of a one-year renewal, it is not excluded that the option for another season could be included – one that would see Ibra reach the age of 40 with Milan.
