Repubblica: Milan’s interest in Monza midfield star concrete after 2022 attempt

AC Milan are expected to try and sign a new central midfielder during the January transfer window, and Warren Bondo’s name keeps coming up.

While waiting for the return of Ismael Bennacer, La Repubblica (via NotizieMilan) are reporting that the Milan management want to sign another midfielder anyway, perhaps because of Yunus Musah’s new hybrid role on the right.

Bondo has established himself as one of the most promising young players in the Italian football scene over the past two seasons, playing both as a box-to-box player and in an anchoring role in front of the back four.

He actually made the decision not to join Milan in 2022, despite the interest already shown by the then-directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara. However, it can be argued that his choice was a mature one, because he wanted to make the jump to Serie A but get guaranteed starts.

Last season he managed to score his first league goal against Milan in a 4-2 win for Monza last season, which was perhaps a message to the new management that he is now ready to make the jump to a top club.

The paper claims that the Rossoneri are indeed keeping a close eye on him and they state that sources in Monza have suggested things are already quite far advanced, to the extent that they expect him to leave.

Under Alessandro Nesta in the current season Bondo has made 15 appearances between the league and the Coppa Italia, accumulating 1,201 minutes of action. Negotiating with Adriano Galliani might make things a bit easier, especially with the Daniel Maldini situation to consider.

  1. cause Fagioli for 25M (even when we have advantage through Kalulu) is too much for LORD Cardinale… or 20M from Frendrup that can be acquired from RLC sale…

        1. We need CDM and a sub for Reijnders… you clowns said the same about Ricci and Rovella… now I keep hearing their names here not to mention Locatelli… who was what flyingturtle describe as “washed”…

          1. I would know what words I use and don’t. And I would know much better than you little fifa boy what I think about locatelli.

Take note I’m only gonna write this once, then fok off.
I like locatelli as a player and was disappointed when we sold him.
            Savvy?

          2. Not my fault you have a faulty memory.

But go-ahead. Find me my text and paste it for me and I’ll admit I’m wrong.. go fifa boy, go..
Nows your chance to but the big boy pants on

          3. it’s baseless that’s the problem…

you objectively don’t have cover for double-pivot. in 3 men midfield we have 5 players (RLC is useless), 2 are Musah who’s role is to be determined and then Zeroli. You need 2 midfielders like it or not.

Theo has no sub and his current form proves that Jimenez, Terraciano are not enough.

Finally, Musah is covering Emerson the entire time.

Nothing Fifa about this… management gave the coach half-built team… I guess Juve was also Fifa…

          4. Pioli had the same team and finished second.
            I rest my case.

And I don’t think highly of Pioli, mister fifa boy. Quite the opposite.

Now go browse and don’t change the subject.

          5. Pioli didn’t have the same squad… we had Pobega, Krunic and Adli… all not good but still depth was in midfield

and last season and this season are different… Napoli and Juve were $hit… and the build up fatigue from Pioli is the reason why we need a LB…

          6. Right the always injured pobega and the benched in November and sold in January krunic.. yeah, they helped a lot.
And the wold beater Adli.. such wow..
            Sigh

          7. again we had numbers… Even against Sasuollo Fonseca had to use Tiji-Fofana… Teracciano was the make-shift midfielder to rest Tiji…

            “Sigh” is so cringe

    1. Frendrup was the player with the most tackles won last season in Serie A and had almost twice as many as number two in that ranking who i believe was either koopmeiners or ederson both of Atalanta. Add to that he was also the player with most recaptured balls in the 2023-24 season so he clearly could be a player of great value to us and as a Dane I actually have a decent knowledge of the player for a lot of seasons predating his arrival to Serie A.
If Frendrup is available for roughly 20 mil then I say go for it already in January as his value is only bound to go up.
I’d like to add Ricci as well but most likely that chance is gone by now.

  2. Exactly Uberhulk. People in here just always want to go against anybody the media says Milan management wants. Fagioli has nothing special. Just an average player. Of course he’s Italian and that’s why you heard about him.
When the management were after Reijnders and Pulisic, I heard they were garbage, and that we were the only Club who would want them. They even shamed Cardinale and Co about signing them. Now they won’t even retracted a to say they were wrong, but they are praying that any player we signed don’t succeed so they can make a satisfactory statement.

    1. Reijnders was clearly a talent at AZ and Pulisic has been one since his days at Dortmund as a teenager and there was even made an approach to sign him under the old management so its not like acquirring him was some sort of super scouting. Signing him last season was just a favorable time to do it do to his contract not lasting so long anylonger as Chelsea had demanded roughly 40 mil the previous year.

    2. Pulisic was never deemed a garbage player but a risky one due to his injuries history
Luckily, it seems and I hope that’s all history now.

Now that we cleared that – 16 players in 2 summer mercatos with 200 millions spent while only 3 of them turned to be added value (Pulisic, Reijnders and Fofana). What’s not to shame and bash? It’s a disaster to say the least. Heads rolled for much much less.

      1. Ted you need to go back and reread the comments. Ppl still comment on all the Chelsea rejects even though RLC has been the only real disappointment

        1. Agree on RLC, I was against him coming and was also very vocal even when Maldini was reportedly after him. It was a no from the start for me. I was also sceptical on Tomori but he came on loan.

    1. They have virtually the same stats over the same amount of minutes but one is on an objectively worse team and three years younger and probably costs less than half, which is good because Milan need another RB too

    2. Bondo is decent, who would you want in there without paying ridiculous money for another reject like Origi. Bondo has a lot of room for growth and would make a good signing. If he can develop into what we saw in him years ago he’d be a masterstroke.

      1. What counts as ridiculous mone? Origi was free agent…

If, if, if.. whe is he gonna develop sitting on the Milan bench?
Who have we developed in the last 5 years?

  3. Jerdy Schouten?
    Florentino Louis?
    Samuele Ricci?
    Maxence Caqueret?
    Angelo Stiller?
    Pepelu?
    Arthur Vermeeren?
    Matteo Prati?
    Rovella?
    André?
