Repubblica: RB Leipzig interested in signing Milan midfield star in summer window

By Oliver Fisher -

RB Leipzig are interested in a move for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie in the upcoming transfer window, according to a report.

Kessie arrived at Milan from the club’s Lombardy rivals Atalanta back in 2017 and has held down a spot in the starting XI for the majority of that period, but speculation over his future persists.

There have been stories from various sources crediting Inter with interest in the Ivorian, but earlier on Monday La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com) reported that Kessie is destined to remain at Milan beyond the summer.

Nonetheless, La Repubblica (via MilanNews) are reporting that the 23-year-old’s excellent performances in the middle of the field have attracted the attention of Leipzig.

The Bundesliga side are keen on reinforcing their midfield ahead of next season and have begun to look into signing Kessie, the paper adds.

Kessie scored his second goal in two games on Sunday night, converting from the penalty spot to earn Milan a 2-2 draw against Napoli after he had netted to make it 2-2 against Juventus on Tuesday.
