Resto del Carlino: Bologna open to sale of striker as Milan eye discount deal

By Oliver Fisher -

Marko Arnautovic is expected to leave Bologna in the summer and AC Milan could secure him for a low transfer fee, a report claims.

According to today’s edition of Il Resto del Carlino (via SempreMilan.it), Bologna will make some sales in the summer to lower the current wage bill and the first name on the list is Marko Arnautovic, who is on the fringes of Thiiago Motta’s plans.

The Milan management are admirers of the Austrian striker who could arrive to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with an asking price of around €5m expected to be enough. It is a low figure for a player who has nine goals and one assist in just 19 games this season, although he is 34.

Arnautovic earns €2.7m net per season at Bologna, a figure that makes him the highest paid player in the history of the Emilia-Romagna club. A sale of him appears mandatory for them, with Milan aiming to try get as much of a discount as possible.

    1. Why not?

We’re not running on unlimited funds, and even if we do, it is just a responsible thing to want to get the best price available and reflect before making a purchase. Do you prefer us to be paying over the top for every deals like Chelsea/PSG?

      This is the norm.

  1. I still don’t get the interest in this guy. He’s 34 and causes trouble. Will he really accept being the third choice striker? If I’m not mistaken belotti is a free agent. He’s still in his 20’s and is a milan fan who wouldn’t complain. He’s the ideal third striker

  2. Milan have rebic and origi that cost annually almost 10 million of gross, and they together score 5 goals whole season. Bringing Arnautovic for less possible transfer fee and for less than 3 million in net is better option than those two handicapped players, arnautovic needs to score only 5 goals in season.

Openda Giroud Arnautovic with much better quality right winger than messias and Kamada, I think we would have better attack than everything we had this season.

    1. kamada is a trequartista that is versatile he’s exactly what we need from a trequartista because he scores far more than our others and assists more too

  3. Some of you really don’t pay attention. Look at how effective Dzeko has been for Inter. We need 4 centre forwards. Arnautovic would be brilliant for rotation.
