Journalist discusses Juventus game, Kamada pursuit and Spezia striker being a fit for Milan

Dario Ricci has urged AC Milan to take a look at a Spezia striker in view of the summer transfer window, and believes the Rossoneri start as favourites against Juventus.

The imminent game against Juventus is huge in Milan’s bid to secure a top four spot, which in turn could radically change the plans for what is a crucial summer transfer window with several areas to address. MilanNews have done an interview with Dario Ricci, a correspondent and speaker on Radio 24, about the main topics surrounding Milan at the moment.

What kind of match do you expect against Juve?

“I expect a match with a Juve still disoriented and a Milan more focused on their targets. Milan aims, through a win in Turin, to give solidity to a complex and difficult year. Despite everything, the Rossoneri start as favourites: from the point of view of the organisation of the game, they have something more. It is clear.”

In the event of failure to qualify for the Champions League, would Juventus and Milan’s season be considered unsuccessful?

“Qualification for the Champions League is crucial for any top club like Juve and Milan. The black and white season is a bankruptcy, despite the penalties. What we have seen on the pitch is really too little and it seems to me that there are cracks in the dressing room that cannot be repaired.

“Milan, on the other hand, had very little from the summer transfer market. Despite this, they played in the semi-final of the Champions League, a great result. However, it is important that the Rossoneri participate in the next editions of the Champions League. Otherwise the judgment would be negative.”

Your opinion on Kamada?

“Kamada is a very good player, but it is yet another gamble. Milan must start winning them. He shouldn’t be yet another De Ketelaere, so to speak. Not everyone, in a big club like Milan, is given who knows how many chances.”

What should Milan’s summer window focus on?

“They need a centre-forward. Right now they need more of an interpreter in this role than Zaniolo, just to be clear. I would bet on N’Zola of Spezia. He has quality and he seems to me to be a very good player, with interesting technical variables.

“The problem ahead is serious: Giroud has been squeezed, also considering the World Cup in the middle. And then I have another impression…”

What is it?

“Milan need to flesh out the midfield. The Rossoneri have never really replaced Kessie and have suffered from it this season. In addition there is the injury of Bennacer, which is a very serious one.”

What future do you imagine for Ibra?

“Maybe he doesn’t know either. And this is the most worrying problem. He has explored various avenues, including that of showbusiness, but he doesn’t seem who knows how convinced even on that front.

“He himself must realise that it is time to leave the field and study with the same commitment that he had as a footballer for what he wants to do next.

“A director? Difficult to learn how to do it in a scant year. I imagine him like ‘Kobe Bryant’: it would be nice if he opened his own personal academy in which he gives mental-coach lessons in the sports field. After all, he’s already doing it. But for Milan.”
