AC Milan are planning to make an investment on a new central midfielder, and Samuele Ricci of Torino remains high on their list of targets.
Tuttosport (via MilanNews) this morning has the following headline on their front page: ‘Ricci remains in Milan’s plans’. Milan have two objectives for the January window: to sign a new midfielder and a deputy for Theo Hernandez.
Ricci remains ‘the dream’ for the former, but it is unlikely that Torino will let him leave in January. For this reason, the Milan directors are keeping a close eye on other profiles, such as Angelo Stiller of Stuttgart and Morten Frendrup of Genoa.
It is not excluded that there could be two midfield signings in the coming months, because Ismael Bennacer has just returned from the serious calf injury that kept him out for over three months. Thus, there is a chance he does not provide sufficient guarantees.
Ricci is in increased demand after a brilliant start to the season with Torino, playing 19 times across all competitions. He has been used both as a regista in front of the defence but also as a box-to-box player, which means he offers the kind of versatility that would be useful for Milan.
None of those will leave in January.
Maybe Gorezkta from Bayern in a loan with obligation but he is more suited to a box-to-box role
And if Benny goes to AFCON again then he is not a serious player.
With Ricci and Benecer returning we would have for me the best midfield in Seria A:
We would be able to pick 2/3 from:
Titania, Fofana, Musah and Benecer, that is quality right there.
The plus points of signing Ricci are there for all to see, even our God awful management
Bennacer and Musah is quality right there? All Musah can do is run. He has the tactical intelligence of a pea. Bennacer gets slower and more injury prone every season. There’s a reason we have been trying to sell him to the Saudis.
My bet is on Bondo in January. Moncada’s wet dream since his Ligue 1 days and Monza would be willing to let him go for 10 millions. RedTurd esque signing.
Could someone in management decide whether we are building for 433 or 4231
There is no point signing anyone until that is clear. 433 then yes Ricci will be useful and benny coming back helps.
If we play 4231 then we need a complete overhaul. We need to sell Musah and RLC buy an attacking midfielder and a RW
“Could someone in management decide whether we are building for 433 or 4231”
A question I’ve been asking repeatedly for 2 years now and we still don’t know.
