Tuttosport: Romagnoli’s future remains uncertain as idea of Milan renewal gains steam

The future of Alessio Romagnoli is still up in the air even though we are now less than two months from the expiry of his contract with Milan.

Tuttosport (via MilanNews) write how his farewell to the Rossoneri at the end of this season seemed certain but now his possible stay with a renewal cannot be completely ruled out. This is because Lazio’s offer is below the one Milan put forward, which is €2.8m net per season.

Romagnoli is no longer so convinced of taking the road to Rome and joining he boyhood team while the Milan captain would not mind staying at Milanello, where he has been very happy for the past seven years even if he risks continuing to have little playing time.

He has lost a starting spot to both Fikayo Tomori and Pierre Kalulu, while the return of Simon Kjaer and the probable signing of Sven Botman should even further reduce the space available to Romagnoli.

It will not be an easy decision given that he is now in his prime at 27, because money is important but so is being on the field and the former Roma man also wants to play in the national team.
