Romano: Milan enquired about Aguerd – West Ham’s unequivocal response

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are one of the clubs who enquired about the idea of signing Nayef Aguerd from West Ham United but they got a definitive answer quickly, a report claims.

Milan have really been struggling with injuries in the centre-back department in the last few weeks with Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw and Pierre Kalulu all out for some time yet as each sustained serious muscle injuries.

The first reinforcement of the January transfer window has arrived for Milan as Matteo Gabbia’s return from his loan spell at Villarreal was confirmed earlier today, but he is not expected to be the only addition that the management make.

In an update on social media, Fabrizio Romano reports that Saudi clubs have approached West Ham regarding centre-back Nayef Aguerd, something Dharmesh Sheth from Sky Sports in the UK also called.

Romano adds that Roma and Milan have also made enquiries but it is ‘financially not possible’ as West Ham will not accept any kind of loan formula. In addition to that, he adds that Aguerd is ‘very happy’ with life as a Premier League player.

That implies that any club – be they Italian or Saudi – might struggle to convince the Morocco international to leave east London.
