AC Milan appear to be on the verge of signing Christian Pulisic from Chelsea after a second improved offer was sent, a report claims.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Pulisic’s move to Milan is ‘getting closer’. With personal terms already agreed and with the winger pushing for the move since last week, the clubs are now close to an agreement over transfer fee.
Romano adds that Milan’s second submitted bid was worth a total of €22m and talks are now progressing to the ‘final stages’, with the Rossoneri now clearly confident of getting it over the line.
In addition, the journalist also mentions that Milan are still working on the Samuel Chukwueze deal too, implying Pulisic’s arrival will not exclude the Nigerian signing.
Pulisic joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund in January 2019 for a fee of over €67m (via Wikipedia). He scored nine goals in his first 25 Premier League games for the Blues in what was a very promising start.
In 2020-21 he scored four goals and added two assists in 27 league games, then had six goals and two assists in 22 games in 2021-22 before only netting once in 24 games last season.
I am sorry, but this mercato has been very disappointing so far. Nothing exciting about any of these players, except perhaps Romero. Pulisic? No. Reijnders? Ok, but nothing more. RLC? Sorry, but no. This next season will be a disappointment. Chuckwueze would be an upgrade, but that transfer seems a bit far off as of now.
Totally agree. Just players that haven’t work at other clubs. Where are the young and exciting players that we build this project around?
I’m excited by Pulisic – he might be a complete flop or out with injury half the time, but if it does work out and he consistently played to his best I think he’d become an icon. High risk, potential high reward.
Pulisic …an icon…..😳..ur kidding right? Can’t tell if you’re trolling or serious
Icon for American Milanista.
There’s a reason Chelsea paid €65-70m for him a few years ago, he was electric at Dortmund. I don’t think he will hit those heights again, but he could do.
Yeah, he was great 4 years ago and going down since that. He is mentally weak, I doubt he will be back to what Chelsea paid 67M€ for, but let’s see. The whole transfer window seems to be a big risk with half injured players that never proved themselves anywhere.
Yea but he’s not 67m Pulisic, he’s 20m Pulisic with Chelsea happy to offload him to anyone willing to pay at this point. I don’t know why he hasn’t reached his Dortmund highs but this is another big gamble. Why not cough up that money on a known proven (and Italian to satisfy the zealots here) player like Berardi 🤷♂️
Pulisic has played more matches than Bennacer in the past 3 seasons. Same with RLC, think he’s going to do well, he’s a massive upgrade from Messias and Salad.
You know that isn’t true but you just wrote it. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I was wondering wtf I just read 🤦♂️ hahahaha 😂😂😂🤣😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣
So you were excited last summer with CDK taking 2 months to get done and signing random players like Vranckx
lol ok
Oh please. Everyone was excited for CDK based on what he did for Brugge. It didn’t turn out as expected. That can happen (it could turn out that an uneventful signing can bring excitement like Kalulu and Thiaw). Besides he can still come good (though I doubt). However based on what Pulisic has done for Chelsea it’s the opposite of CDK. He’s basically hasn’t done anything really and we’re buying hope, not even potential.
Btw Vranckx was a Moncada special so it wasn’t random.
I wasn’t excited about cdk I was against him but pulisic is world class who needs his confidence back
Pulisic has 20 goals in 98 PL games in 4 years. That‘s a good stat by any means.
CDKs stats in belgian lesgue were very overrated, even Serie A flop Skov Olsen had good stats there.
So if we doing that then Messias is better than Pulisic. He has more goals and assists than him . It’s helps that you included the fourth year because if u consider the last 2 or 3 years Messias is by far greater in terms of contribution. That being said, I’d still prefer an upgrade to the RW and Pulisic instead lol 😂 but that’s if he can be fit. But I doubt he can
Still better than last season
I disagree. Obviously it’s still too early to say for sure. Would’ve been nice to get SMS or Fratessi, but even even if they only get Loftus Cheeks, Pulisic, Musah and or Reijnders I still think it’s an improvement over last season squad. Pulisic is an upgrade on RW and he also can play LW or ATM if necessary so that’s good to have. And even with the loss of Tonali I think overall the midfield will be stronger with Bennacer, Musah, Loftus Cheeks and Reijnders.
A good young striker would be nice tho.
Pulisic is not a RW since Pioli reportedly wants a left-footed RW. We don’t know yet if he can be better than Diaz at AM. All these guys, Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Musah and Reijnders are huge bets, we don’t know if they’ll be good. The front staff is just out there gambling. The team lost Diaz and Tonali and we got Loftus-Cheek and Romero. I can’t see how we are better than last season.
We will better than last season . CDK more huge gamble than pulisic, also activate buy option florenzi & junior messias , dont forget signing origi free. That 4 name already failed last season . Now lets see this season . Pulisic are versatile , he play RW mostly in his career but can cover LW & AMF , he will increase AC Milan income in USA too. I believe he can do better than junior messias. The other target reijnerds are best player for az alkmar can play both 4231 or 433 . The hardest part maybe getting samuel chukwu & yunus musah .
Pulisic’s left foot is also good.
I fail to see an improvement. Aren’t Munsah and Reinjders gambles at this point? I’m not saying they can’t come good, assuming we can get them but they’re quite unknown quantities for roles that are critical to Pioli’s system. Pulisic and RLC seems like 1 small injury away from being flops. Esp given how the surface of Milanello pitches destroys ppls feet for whatever reason. However I do agree with upgrade on the wings IF Pulisic remains fit ….which I doubt he will.
I guess “improvement” hinges on hope. If it were say Dominguez , Koopmeiners, or Amrabat then I could say it’s an upgrade because we get one to replace Tonali (esp the latter two) plus RLC
CDK last season 1450 minute 0 goal & 1 asist . If pulisic can score 1 goal & 2 asist in 500 minute , that will be improvement right?
Not to the whiners here. They’re not happy about anything these days.
No, he needs to score and assist at least 7+7 times. That is what Diaz had. Do you even remember who played in the team last season? 😂😂😂😂😂
After checking in transfermarkt . CDK 1480 minute play in 40 match 0 goal & 1 asist also 3 yellow card. If pulisic as back up can score 1 goal & 2 asist before 1480 minute play , that would be improvement for @ikwydls. I just comparing this season buying ( still rumour ) with last season buying . Last season maldini use 56m euro buy cash CDK 35m euro, thiaw 5m euro , devis vasquez 500k euro , activate buy option florenzi & junior messias total 8m euro , pay signing fee origi free transfer also pay loan fee dest, bakayoko, brahim, aster prank . Pulisic comparing to CDK , RLC comparing to aster prank , singo comparing to florenzi&dest, samuel chukwu comparing to junior messias, new striker comparing to origi . Lets see what improvement AC Milan got comparing to last season transfer market
Bro I agreed that Pulisic is an upgrade IF and only IF he stays fit. It’s the others (Reinjders and Musah) that were the crux of my argument lol. Do u guys bother to read? “However I do agree with upgrade on the wings IF Pulisic remains fit ….which I doubt he will.”
Ok let’s go there then. It seems you’re cherry picking your stats and comparators (+what
u wrote below). Which position are you looking for Pulisic to play? CAM like CDK last season? He’s not exactly a CAM but you’ve just compared one of our crappiest players last year to Pulisic and Pulisic barely comes out on top by a solitary goal and assist then I’m sorry that’s just bare minimum thinking. Make that make sense. Diaz is gone and had 6g 7a which Pulisic hadn’t done or comes close since 2019-20, four years ago. So as I was saying, we’re buying hope for 20+m
If you’re saying he’s a winger, presumably RW to replace Messias who we ‘bought” last year then he’s not going to come close either. Messias output is underrated but I don’t like his style. I think there are better wingers like Chuk who can be more incisive and gives the attack a new dimension.
You’re also comparing new signings to last year’s “new signings” but you’re also leaving out what we’ve lost (btw so far we’ve only signed two outfield players). We’ve lost Diaz and Tonali who were both significant contributors to goals last season- something which Pulisic, Reinjders, Musah and RLC combined do not even come close. Furthermore, you can’t compare offensive output for all the positions you mentioned. The defenders for instance have to be judged differently as do central defensive mids like Vranckx and Tonali. And I’ve already done a comparison between Tonali and RLC which shows he’s nowhere near Tonali defensively and offensively.
Musah is already a very good player at 20 with a lot of room for improvement. He was excellent in the world cup. I don’t know that much about Reijnders honestly but we need depth for sure. Pulisic is an upgrade on RW or if they use him at ATM. If they get all of these guys I think they are stronger than last season for sure.
This is first Ac Milan summer mercato.
We can expect more of: sell expensive best adapted players and bring the cheapest you can substitute.
But at Chelsea we paid everything at full price. Question is why ?
Why do American owner buy expensive at another one American owner ?
We could bring Kamada without Loftus and Chukwueze…
Chukweze actually fulfills the RW role we have been lacking. Unless you want to see more of Messias and I personally dont. I would have preferred we not bring Loftus-Cheek.
Why do you people act like Kamada is the new Kaka?
Whats wrong with you
Take a look at Kamada record for goals and assists. Then compare that to Loftus Cheeks record.
@Rossi. This Boulden guy is just ret@rded. Every alphabet typed to this guy is a waste of time my friend.
Because just in his last season he scored and assisted about the same as Pulisic did in his past 3 years. 😀
What about the striker?
Pulisic would be great in Serie A, especially when sharing an attack with Leao and Giroud. Leao will be much deadlier with defenses forced to focus more on Pulisic than current Milan wingers. Seal the deal!
Until someone tackles him. Then he will be out for a year.
Pulisic has played more matches than Bennacer in the past 3 seasons. So your point is idiotic.
He did not. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Bennacer played 1300 minutes more. Are you counting when Pulisic went in for 7 minutes to rest the first team players as a whole match? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
But they are about the same in numbers, Bennacer has just a few less goals and assists than Pulisic in those seasons. What a winger.
What about some italian players?
Even Inter has now Dimarco, Frattesi, Acerbi, Bastoni, Barella, Darmian
All or them play/ will play a huge part for Inter.
6 Italians!
Then there is Milan.. with only Calabria.
The saddest part is that with Pulisic and Musah , Milan will have more Americas in the starting 11 than Italians..
That’s just sad
I think there is still a tax disadvantage when signing from within Italy which will naturally sour a lot of Italians. Especially with a low wage strategy being able to pay more net for is a big advantage.
I wouldn’t have sold Tonali personally but otherwise we are not in a financial position to be romantic about nationality and need every leverage we can get imo.
Musah grew up in Veneto from the time he was an infant until he moved at age 10 to England and joined Arsenal’s academy. He speaks Italian, has an Italian passport, and has actually never lived in the USA. By whatever standard you want to use, he’s very much not just some American.
That is my biggest disappointment. Even Inter now has more Italians that AC Milan and they’re forming core in NT as well. It was always the other way around.
Retegui, Scamacca, Zaniolo, Ricci, Parisi, Baldanzi are all Italian prospects available on market but they are overpaying for PL rejects or cheap second class “talents” that middle class clubs are after.
Orsolini would be great for RW, I really like him as a player and his contract is expiring.
I ha e no problem with more Italians in Milan, providing they earn the place by quality and not just because they are Italian.
To give you an example, would you rather have Messi or Frattessi in your team, if you were making the choice?
Anyhow, so far not bad overall, i hope some of this talk starts materialising. We will have a better team next year
That’s a bad example.
Ofc everyone would choose Messi but let’s be realistic
There are talented Italians with high quality like Berardi, Baldanzi, Casadei, Scalvini, Parisi who are still available on the marker
Atalanta want CdK? Ok let’s make a deal with Scalvini included
We need a RW? Ok there is Berardi
We need a midfield and AM? Casadei and Baldanzi already showed their quality
Milan wants another LB/RB ? Parisi is there
The options are there.
Some of them are even cheap.
But that would require an owner and management to combine business and the willingness to be a successful team.
Here is the problem. Our beloved owner Cardinale wants only business. Basically a feeder club – let’s buy cheap and sell. Success doesn’t matter as long as we play UCL.
God how I always disliked oil money clubs but right now I would swap it any time with this parasite of an owner
And before you write that we don’t have the budget – before selling Tonali the budget was between 35-50 mil according to journalists
Now there are another 70 mil from Tonali’s sale (+ salary saving)
Ok Milan signed RLC for 23mil and Romero for free…so the budged should be still around 80 to 100 mil €!!
(Not to mention that our greedy owner never invested a single cent into this club as Milan got a lot of money for their UCL placing + 4th place + qualifying for another year UCL etc)
And yes we still have some dead wood like Messias, Ballo Toure, Alexis, Adli and ofc Origi.
If they would be sold then there is another addition to the budget + salary savings – meaning that THERE IS MONEY TO BUY ALL OF THEM.
There was even money for Frattesi.
The problem is the greedy owner and the amateur management..
Berardi will be 29 years old when next season starts. His contract with Sassuolo still has 3 seasons left to go. Fee was rumored to be €25m.
Baldanzi is 20 years old and has a contract with Empoli that runs for another 3 seasons. He’s played one season of first team football and scored 4 career goals. Fee was rumored to be €15m-20m.
Casadei is a 20 year old who Chelsea paid €15m for 12 months ago that has never played a game in the top flight but has impressed enough that Chelsea are looking for a Premier League or Serie A team to loan him to (with no option to buy) for the upcoming season. His Chelsea contract has 5 more seasons to run.
Scalvini is a 19 year old who has played one season in Serie A and impressed to the point that he’s already being quoted around Europe at more than €40m for a transfer fee. His current contract at Atalanta has 3 more seasons to go.
Parisi is 22 years old, has 2 years left on his contract with Emploi, and just finished his second season in Serie A where he showed marked improvement over his first season. Transfer market has him valued at €10m.
As we can see, the only one who fits the profile of what the current management would be looking for is Parisi and possibly Baldanzi. They don’t seem to be looking for another left back, and I haven’t heard of any left backs they’ve targeted instead of Parisi. As for Baldanzi, they’re going for a player that is actually MORE expensive and a much HIGHER pedigree.
I don’t think they have a desire to shoehorn in Italian players at the expense of using their resources in the manner that they think maximizes their effectiveness. That’s not a big deal. It would be much worse to have the inverse problem. They also do seem to intend on spending the money. I think patience will prove those things, regardless of whether the moves made turn out to be successful or not.
What is 15 million for Baldanzi or 10 millions for Parisi? Empoli are after Maldini and they could negotiate even better price. But they are throwing 20 millions+ for PL rejects or second class Eredivisie talent who are yet to prove anything in Serie A.
There are also Retegui who’s available for 15 millions and Zaniolo who could be negotiated for 25 millions and bonuses. Ricci would be around 20 millions. Instead they are after Morata for 20 millions, Musah and Rejinders each 20 millions+ and Pulisic for 22 millions. Chuk is even more.
When we finish out of CL maybe then Jerry will understand
Well season tix aren’t being confirmed. Huge mistake. He will cry in the first 6 weeks. Pulisuck.
is this the best the current Milan management can do in the mercato?
this club has lost its ambition.
Walk away from this player don’t make this deal you are throwing money out the window I know he’s a paisano of uncle Jerry but he sucks ok
Yep. It’s like throwing money into a fire.
This whole transfer window will be like 17/18. Just this season they are throwing money out the window on injury-prone rejects.
Good news, I think.
Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic, and then Morata, Musah, Reijnders, Chukwueze, all good addition to the squad. If they weren’t good, I think they will not be chased by other teams. So, this is good, and hope all that names really come to Milan.
For the last, I think we need addition for defending areas. We got Sportiello is good, but that’s not enough.
Who is exactly chased by other teams? Pulisic by West Ham? Musah some interest 0 offers, Reijnders “Barcelona” interest. Chukwueze?
Pulisic has been excellent on his national team. His game is very good when his confidence is high. He never was given much of a chance in the past year with Chelsea, even after a great performance in the world cup. Truth be told, he was one of the best attacking players on Chelsea. Too, when they won the Champions League a few years back, without his outstanding performance, they don’t make it past Real in the semis. He has a lot to prove and a chip on his shoulder. He’ll be outstanding in the coming year.
He has an average of a point every 180 minutes in the Champions League. Similar ratio in the Bundesliga. At Chelsea he was replaced by Werner Havertz Ziyech and missed 330 days of football. He never had a serious chance. They had way more depth. With Leao and Giroud, also given our league isn’t as much up and down running, he will have a good chance to make good. With Leao drawing lots of attention, it could give him those extra yards he couldn’t find and he will get a chance at consistent playing time I dare to think his scoring touch is better than Salad and Messias. He will get regular playing time, what he hasn’t gotten in years. Lots of stop and go in a high paced league like the EPL is not good for a player that is trying to get up to speed. He could be a significant contributor if he remains healthy. His record against Mexico is also stellar. He can still score when relied upon.
22 million for a player once valued at 60+ is worth the chance. The difference where I think we had less manoeuvring space to land him fee wise is because they paid a lot for him. LFC on the other hand was a pure gain for them. I think they should have hardened their stance and only offered 15 million. That amount is a safe gamble. More than that it was overpaying.
Juve, Roma are rebuilding Dybala might be out, Juve need to rejuvenate. Napoli will loose some significant players and their coach so that may be why Milan decided to not go crazy on the market.
Our goaltending cost us 5 games easily, if not more, lacking Maignans passing and big saves was a huge hit. Lack of offensive depth up front too was a concern. If we add speed throughout the line up, more finishing off the bench, it might be enough to give us a better chance of winning this year.
If we land that Dia from Saliterna, we will make up for the goals lost from Ibra and he is certainly more clinical than our other options upfront last season except for Leao. He will be 25 million well spent. They need to sign him. You wont get that value for someone his age with proven scoring in Italy.
If we can get 7 to 10 goals from Pulisic, 10 to 14 from Dia, 10 from Giroud and 15 from Leao, we will be in good graces. Add some from Theo, couple of more from midfielders we can be in a good spot. Lazio got to third with 60 goals, conceding 30. We conceded 42. Maignan and Sportiello should be leaps and bounds ahea of Tata. I think we can reduce our conceded goals by 10 less and be more clinical in the box, we will be good domestically. Internationally, not so sure.
If we weren’t touring the US, I doubt we’d be signing this useless cripple. They’re hoping to make a lot of that money back in shirt sales.
The only upgrading we will be doing this off-season is RW. Midfield is weaker. But hey at least I don’t have to watch messias every game now.
Pulisic is not a bad signing. But just the fact that he is so injury prone at 23 should be the biggest RED FLAG. Doesn’t matter how good he is, he will NEVER be good enough if he CANT PLAY. That’s the whole point.
And The worst thing is PIoli switching Formations. We will be out of UCL by the 10th game this season if formation switch happens. Not that 433 is a bad formation, Pioli has just NO FKN Idea how to pull it off. Dude expects his CAMs to defend. Lol and HE IS GONNA PULL 433 off? NO FKN Way.
Just in case everyone is wondering, Pioli’s 433 got lazio so fcked in the arse, they finished 8th that season with Pioli getting fired at the end. Pioli should stick to his 4231 like a bible and we should sign Kamada.
he’s Chelsea number 10 lol
Good to see him closer . He is versatile ,can fill LW,RW,AMF. Outside field he can bring revenue for AC Milan in USA. He is determined to revive his career again
the Captain America
All of players mentioned here are gambling, cause we dont know how they playing in serie A. The chance of gambling is 50-50. So, lets wait and see, who will be succeed and who will be flop.
Pulisic is far better than this Italian guy inter just signed, welcome Captain America
Last season we had krunic, Tonali n Bennacer in the heart of the midfield n Diaz now we ave Cheek n just krunic, we need just good replacement for Tonali n Diaz that’s if the subs like CDK n Pobega remains in the team
People brought up the same thing about Dybala last season, oh he’s injury prone, it would be a waste of money for a player who’s always injured, and then he was the protagonist to Roma’s second European final in 2 seasons. Yeah some people are never happy, you hear the same thing about RLC, he’s always injured, the man played more than 100 matches in the past 3 seasons. Yeah people on here clearly don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. They’d be surprised to know that Pulisic has actually played 111 games in the past 3 season for Chelsea. That’s 1 more than Bennacer has played for us in the past 3 seasons. So yeah pay no attention to the morons up there.
I guess you would be happy even if Jerry turned the team into a travelling circus.
Was he a always a starter those 111 games you mentioned above. Or should we say bcos Dybala turned out well for Roma without any debilitating injuries, Milan should actively buy injury prone players willingly knowing the risks and history those players had with their former clubs.
I get budget restrictions and wage cap. But calling folks above morons bcos they are pointing out obvious and glaring flaws is just…. I have no words.
Anyway we move into the new season with lots of hope.
Forza Milan🙏
Of course not. He was a sub in most, when you look at his minutes he played less than 100 matches. And he forgot to mention he was injured in all 3 of those seasons for a minimum of 30 days, or in total 131 days missed because of injury. Looks promising.
Pulisic is definitely an upgrade on what we have on rw at the moment…if he can manage his body and with change of environment he might be better than expected…..its low risk high reward strategy fingers crossed hope he adjusts to life in Milan sooner..if the media reports are true regarding pulisic pushing to join milan this might work in our favour as player willing and with point to prove will do anything for the club’s success. This attitude alone might make him fans fav. The only thing bothers us is Midfield this is something we should should work on as quality players are needed after tonali loss but I hope rlc prove us wrong because considering the importance of position and with his injury record I feel rather shaky on this….let’s see how it pans out
And comparing Pulisic with Bennacer.
Different roles, different mentality, different style of play, different conditioning🤦♂️☹️😐😑😶.
Cardinale fufil your role at Milan and pass it on to the next phase. This schism currently within the fan base almost rivals, and will soon surpass the banter era
Waste of money, Milan bought 2 Chelsea injury-prone bench warmers for 45M or more. Maybe they can get some from Madrid, they will be glad to offload Ferlan Mendy and similar players they don’t want there anymore. This transfer window will be like 17/18, a bunch of players and all useless.
Also can you bluffers stop talking about how Chukwueze would be a great signing. I’ll be amazed if any of you have seen him play.
Most of his birth country fans speak of the fact that while good, he is known to be inconsistent in the final third. And sometimes very annoying with his decisions on the ball.
So while he would be a good upgrade for the RW, he is not this deus ex machina many make him out to be.
