Romano: Milan expected to seal renewal of key man after the World Cup

By Oliver Fisher -

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the reports suggesting that Olivier Giroud’s renewal with AC Milan is a mere formality, stating that he will sign a new deal after he is done in Qatar.

Giroud has scored three World Cup goals already so far and is enjoying being a starter for the French national team while Karim Benzema is out injury, with the 36-year-old having continued his good form at club level.

His deal is currently set to expire in June 2023, but Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Giroud is set to extend his contract with Milan after the World Cup. A new proposal will be ready in order to get the documents signed as soon as possible, as per the journalist.

Giroud’s focus is of course on helping France retain their title of being world champions, but he is be ‘more than happy to continue with Milan’ beyond the end of the current campaign.
