Romano: Maldini wants Man Utd defender at Milan as club eye ‘serious investment’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara are pushing for the signing of Manchester United defender Diogo Dalot, according to a report.

It was reported Sky Italia on Monday night that Milan have an offer for Dalot on the basis of a loan with option to buy. However, the Premier League club only want to sell him outright at present.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s latest for Calciomercato.com, Milan have indeed made an offer for the 21-year-old who is considered the ideal reinforcement for the right side due to his pace and quality.

Dalot is admired by Maldini and Massara but United currently will not accept loan proposals for their full-back and would only sell him outright.

There are also other surprise clubs in the race and it won’t be easy to sign him, but Milan have moved. Should Lucas Paqueta complete his move to Lyon, another big signing would be targeted, and Romano adds that a serious investment in defence instead of a loan cannot be excluded with Kristoffer Ajer and Fofana among the welcome profiles.
