Romano: ‘Keen on the move’ – Milan pushing for Roma striker in addition to Morata

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are in talks with AS Roma over the potential signing of Tammy Abraham and the player is keen on the move, according to a report.

We reported earlier today that Milan are closing in on signing a striker after weeks of speculation and sagas like the Joshua Zirkzee one, with a medical expected next week for Alvaro Morata of Atletico Madrid.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Milan are in discussions with Roma about the signing of Abraham. The Englishman is ‘one of the options being considered’ as Milan want three strikers for next season and not two.

The former Chelsea man would also be ‘keen on the move’, while Romano adds that the plan from the management includes the signing of Álvaro Morata, Luka Jović plus one more striker, which could therefore be Abraham.

There is no mention of the transfer fee or the formula that might be used for the deal, but the Rossoneri seem to be concrete in their interest.

Abraham missed most of last season due to the serious injury suffered on the last day of the 2022-23 season (rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament of his left knee), and there remain doubts about his physical status given the significance of the problem he had.

  1. Depends on the price.
He was great in his 1st season in serie A with Roma, 17 goals in Serie A, 27 goals total. But his 2nd season was not good at all even before the injury. 9g,7a in 54 games.
Interesting that before the ACL injury he played 54 and 53 games in his first 2 seasons at Roma. So he is durable.
The talent is there. He has 20 + goals in him. But, why is Roma moving away from him, even with Lukaku gone, especially for Youssef En Nesiry from Sevilla?
If they can get him for 20 or less, or a loan, it would be a good deal, otherwise give me Lorenzo Locca behind Morata.

  2. Milan should close their scouting team. Why do we have a scouting team since we are literally turning into Chelsea B. Where is “moneyball”? Lets just wait for Chelsea to buy players and get any of their extras or rejects. It has worked in the past i wont lie but for god’s sake we are AC Milan we are not Vitesse!

    I really dont understand

          1. 4-5 good games and compleatly missing in the rest is not good at all. Bakayoko had far more good games then him under Gatusso still failed tho.

    1. If Milan goes after some unknown player based on scouting department people complain Milan signs bunch of nobodies.
If Milan is signing known players, they are complaining they are turning into Chelsea B.
What players do you want Milan to sign?
Milan or any serie A team are not financially powerful to compete with the EPL teams, or Real Madrid, Bayern, PSG for the top players. That’s why inter and Juventus, just like Milan, are signing ex Chelsea or ex Epl players that underperformed.
That, We Are Ac Milan stuff means nothing. The great Milan (and serie A) of the past started dying with the Calciopoli and died when the courts slapped that degenerate Silvio with a huge fine in 2012.
That Milan isn’t coming back until serie A changes their dinosaur ways of operating.
Until then this is the reality of Milan and serie A clubs

        1. Times changed – and like 10+ years ago. We compete against Everton (at best) financially. Because of the new reality of Serie A, I (reluctantly) agree with the general way the management behaves. But don’t get me wrong, if we were to be bought by some country who wants to use us as part of their marketing wing, sure, I welcome that too.

          1. Newcastle United Director Amanda Staveley:
“We talked to Inter Milan, AC Milan with PIF before buying Newcastle, but the problem was the structure of the league was a mess.”

There is a reason why no country or no super rich entity wants to come and buy a club in serie A, instead of buying some fringe EPL club that hasn’t won a title in a 100 years.
And it’s not like serie A clubs cost a fortune. Milan and Chelsea were sold in the same month 2 years ago, Milan went for barely over a billion while Chelsea was sold for almost 4 billion.
The league and the conditions in England make EPL clubs more valuable and more popular for investors, while the league and the bureaucracy in Italy makes them less valuable and unpopular to investors.
How long has Milan been asking for an approval to build their own stadium? And they aren’t even asking for public funding to build that stadium, just an approval to be allowed to invest and build it.

      1. No.. The signings could still have been better… Juve inter napoli all are making world class signings.. Napoli git buoungiorno.. Inter got thuram and taremi (strikers milan was linked with)… Juve got chiesa vlahovic and many more this season… While milan did not make a single statement signing last season… They had to replace tonali but failed… They havent got a decent striker for the past decade… The only thing that made us win the scudetto was the engine of isma tonali and kessie with the experience of ibra and we lost nearly all of them by now….

    2. Id suggest it’s Chelsea that are the problem, they throw money at whatever the current shiny thing in the world is without consideration of the players they have, their way of playing or whether it’s a good deal.

Then, because they’ve overspent, they have to ship out some of the players their excellent academy and loan system has produced, ideally for capital gains. In their ideal world it’s a dodgy, overvalued sale to Saudi Arabia, but for the players with more self respect they just have to find a taker somewhere acceptable to them.

Take a player like Mudryk, talented as he may be they’re committed to paying about 20m per season for eight years for him. Similar for Fernandez.

  3. My thoughts exactly. It might be more a statement on the poor management by Chelsea than Milan. Or it’s just the difference in the leagues. Subs/spot starters in the EPL are first team starters in the Serie A.

  4. Jesus, Abraham? He was dumb at his best, now that he’s been injured and broken for a while?

It was Chelsea before, now we’re signing Fiorentina and Roma rejects (Jovic and Abraham).

This management only sign good (not great) players if they are in their final year of their contracts, or rejects of other teams. They can’t even sign good free agents because they can’t compete in wages or sign on fees.

Depressing times and it’s sad to see Zlatan as their new puppet.

  5. – So, it’s been a few years already since we got here and we just let our coach go, this is a turning point. What is the plan to take the team to the next level?

    – Okay hear me out, you’re gonna flip out: Emerson Royal and Abraham, coached by Fonseca.

    – *snorting sound, face all covered in white powder* I LOVE IT

  6. Ac Milan buying Abraham is extremely good, he is relatively young, about to enter the golden years as a striker, he knows the league already, has pace, size and technic, and he is reuniting with someone who knows him….get it over with

  7. Would seem a weird spend to have Jovic, Morata and Abraham on the books for one role, especially when we also have Okafor. Would rather see the money invested elsewhere unless it’s a loan with very favourable terms.

  8. I like picking up Tammy, at the right price. He’s actually workable playing back to goal, comfortable making space for others around him. I haven’t seen enough of Morata to know what he does back to goal, but my general impression was not much.

As for the Chelsea B comment, I think you can pretty easily argue that you’d make a better team from Chelsea B than from Chelsea A at this point. Taking advantage of the Chelsea dumpster fire is always worth considering. They buy young talented players, don’t give them enough playing time, and then sell them again when they want to make room for another one.

A true Chelsea B would buy all of the Chelsea rejects, not play them enough and then turn around and sell them for 1/3rd of what they paid for them 2 years later, so they could buy more Chelsea rejects.

  9. *Too

Luckily Roma did not want Jovic as counterpart. Now, it Fullkrüg is next on the list. Seems a little bit arbitrary too me these names. Completely different profiles.

    1. No. Tammy is a good player (maybe not great). Colombo can’t even make it in a small team. Happy to be wrong in 6 years time, but right now, he barely has any business playing in Serie A.

    1. That’s easy – Roma don’t want him and his bad knee so he will be available at a discount price (under our 20M cap) or low figured loan – the perfect combo for Redbird!!! LOLOLOLO

  10. These same people complaining about Tammy’s knee are the same people that forget Califiori had an even worse injury than Tammy and has already missed nearly 2 seasons of football. But they want to cry and complain about everything. These people should go support Manchester United. Garbage new fans that weren’t here during the bad times.

  11. If we’re some club 20 years ago, we will battling to sign Haaland, Mbappe, Wirtz, Musiala. Now we even cant get Mediocre player like Zirkzee or David . And ending with Morata and injury prone Tammy

  12. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona rejected what would have been a world transfer record-breaking $270 million (€250 million) fee (probably from PSG) for its wonderboy winger Lamine Yamal before the ongoing European Championship.

        1. Bro Lamal is for his age fat better than Leao. He’s the future. I’d dare say he’s better than MBappe for his age and arguably even currently
          I’d pay the 250 easy 😅

    1. Fulkrug is also mentioned. Interesting. Has quite an international record. Bit of a late bloomer. Might be more fit than Tammy. But I’d prefer someone younger as we are definitely signing Morata now.

  13. in my opinion Abraham is good player, but not so regular because of medical issues.
    .
I think that after Milan will completed transfer Alvaro Morata, the option with Ellis Simms could be the best. if it’s true that Fullkrug is not happy because of his position in Dortmund, so of course yes. problem with Fullkrug is only his age. together with Jovic and Morata it could be very old attack of AC Milan. however, it’s not big problem. the ability of these players give us some advantage against other teams in new season.
    .
but my first option after Morata is still Ellis Simms. he had already proof in Coventry that he has got papers for big playing.
    .
and something about defence. for me Thiaw and Tomori have to be sold. Hermoso, Hummels or Pavlovic are good option. we don’t need only speed in defence, but also clever guys. in last season centre defenders were our the worst/weakness positon. we needed stronger personalities there and also our economical options. may be Sutalo or Pongracic?
