Romano: Milan set budget for Romagnoli renewal as wage cap is waived away

Gigio Donnarumma is a priority, of course, but on the list of contracts to be renewed we also find Alessio Romagnoli. The captain’s contract will expire in 2022 and AC Milan are keen on locking him down for many years.

According to Fabrizio Romano of Calciomercato.com, optimism is filtering from the Rossoneri. Romagnoli has always shown loyalty towards the club in recent year, despite the interest of Juventus and the concrete inquiries from Chelsea.

Milan have already allocated a budget for Romagnoli’s renewal and the salary cap won’t touch the key players, such as the former Roma and Sampdoria man. Currently earning €3.5m per year, Romagnoli will ask for more with Mino Raiola on his side.

A meeting between the parties will soon take place to discuss various topics and Romagnoli is one of them. Already this summer, it will be necessary to strike up an agreement, as Milan don’t want to risk anything.
