Romano: Monza ask for Milan full-back on loan amid rise of Real Madrid loanee

By Euan Burns -

Monza are seeking an opportunistic loan deal for AC Milan youngster Davide Bartesaghi given the impressive rise of Alex Jimenez for the Rossoneri, a report claims.

As has been reported by Fabrizio Romano with Matteo Moretto, the Brianza think there is a deal to be done for Bartesaghi now that Stefano Pioli has multiple young full-back options.

Bartesaghi has been an occasional part of the first team this season thanks to his versatility and the various defensive injuries, and the same can now be said for Jimenez, who can play on both flanks.

Monza have identified Bartesaghi as a player that Milan might be able to do without for the second half of the season, if they rate Jimenez more highly.

Jimenez is on loan from Real Madrid and can be signed permanently at the end of the season thanks to a clause in the deal, so it is in Milan’s interest to test him at the first-team level and see if he is worth the money.

He impressed from the bench against Empoli and could become the natural back-up at left-back for Theo Hernandez, once the Frenchman is able to return to his normal role rather than centre-back. He has been playing there due to the injury crisis at the back.

  1. Bartesaghi had better positioning and overall defended better than Jimi. Jimi had better pace though. I must say the one thing I was impressed withw as his recovery pace. Otherwise, the better defender was Bart’s but it’s not saying much after a couple games too

    1. Bartesaghi is better at the crossing exercise.

The Spanish Excell at drribling and making destaing run to tear the oppenent line.

It doesn’t make any sense to buy him out, in 2026 Real Madrid can get him back for just 10 millions, why growing up the player of another team, instead of improving our own calcciatori

      1. Yea that’s not a good solution for us. We have to make our evaluations now and figure out if we really want to keep him (renegotiate the deal in our favour). No sense to develop him, Diaz pt 2

      2. I agree, dumb move to have that clause in. If he performs, we lose him.
10 million is not worth loosing a player who can develop with our team abd the playing time we attribute to their asset.

Should take a hint, when Monza and Atalanta want your players, they can play at this level. Send the Spaniard back and keep our kid in the ranks.

    2. Unfortunately Bartesaghi is:

      a) Italian;
      b) nobody is going to earn any commission if he stays at Milan; and
      c) a long term solution,

      therefore he has no chance.

Now starts the slow decline caused by endless loans.

    1. What will the 15 directors do if we they can’t wheel and deal on the transfer market?

And how are they supposed to live without earning any commission?
