AC Milan appear to be making ground in their pursuit of Strahinja Pavlović as he has made it clear to Red Bull Salzburg that he wants to join.
Milan went into the summer transfer window looking for a new central defender after Simon Kjaer’s exit and after links with various targets it became apparent that Pavlovic is the man that they are pushing for.
The 23-year-old is young, has the potential to grow, had an impressive European Championship with Serbia despite their early exit, is left-footed and is physically a monster. In short, there is a lot to like and he ticks plenty of boxes.
According to the latest from Fabrizio Romano, Pavlovic ‘has been clear with Salzburg’ and has told them that he ‘wants AC Milan move’. Personal terms were agreed last week between the Rossoneri and the defender.
Romano adds that the Serbia international is ‘ready for new chapter in Italy’ and that ‘negotiations are underway between the two clubs’ with the hope of finding an agreement soon. The coming days could see the deal closed, therefore.
As a reminder, the Salzburger Nachrichten are reporting that the former Monaco man is ‘on the verge’ of a move, with the clubs set to agree on a €25m price including bonuses.

Yes, among all our central defenders, I would sell Thiaw for having Pavlovic. My ideal CB for this season (including back ups) would be Tomori, Pavlovic, Gabbia and Simuc actually. Plus we still have Kalulu altbough seems like he will be deployed as RB mostly. Too bad Simic want guarantee for 1st team, plus relatively high salary for his current level. Cant blame the management to sell him in this case considering his last year of contract.
And also afaik, roo bad we dont have another great prospect for CB, unlike wing back that we have prospects like Magni and Bartesaghi (both played really great on game vs Northern Ireland U19)
I heard we are selling Simic – if Simic leaves it is hard to imagine we will sell Thiaw unless a very high offer came in
Good signing if it happens. We haven’t had a aggressive physical defender for a while. He reminds of me Stam with his stature but Vidic in terms of style of play.
Tomori, Pavlovic, Gabbia, Thiaw. Kalulu is being deployed as RB but can also play as CB so we are well covered. Shame we are selling Simic. The kid has talent like Kirkeez who was sold cheaply to Feyernoord and is now one of the rising wingbacks in EPL.
