Salzburger Nachrichten: Pavlovic ‘on the verge’ of Milan move after negotiation

By Ben Dixon -

It could be a London bus-like summer for AC Milan. In the first two weeks, there were no arrivals, but now, there could be two completed within a week, and it seems this could be close to fruition.

There has been a need to add to the defence for six months, and it seems that demand will be fulfilled shortly and Milan will sign their primary target – Strahinja Pavlovic. The Serbian defender quickly became the Rossoneri’s favoured candidate, and things have moved fast.

Unfortunately, it has not been the smoothest sail, but of course, it is the mercato, so that cannot be expected.

Pavlovic gave his confirmation to the Diavolo in the early stages, and a drafted contract was settled fairly quickly, but when Milan made their approach to RB Salzburg with a bid, the Austrian club asked for a higher fee, with a figure of €30 million in mind.

For the Rossoneri, a fee closer to €20m was the goal, but a report from Salzburger Nachrichten has suggested a middle ground, quite literally, has been found. As the report suggests, the defender is ‘on the verge’ of a move, with the clubs set to agree on a €25m price including bonuses.

  1. We can easily get kiwior on loan aswell if we want to he says he really wants it and there is no space for him at arsenal

  2. Jan carlo simic 3m from anderlecht that could be added money for Pavlovic. Get it done before EPL clubs coming with masssive money…

  3. With him, we have 5 central defenders, in case of injuries either Coubis or Barthesragi could be deployed in defence, so we need so fortify the midfield

  4. I think we were waiting on players that were in the Euro 2024 cup, like Fofana and Morata. Pavlovic will be a massive boost to our defense. But I think we need to have an exit with a central defender.

  5. With Simic sold, kjaer out and kalulu moving to rb this is a necessary addition. I don’t know much about this guy but from what I hear he’s a top player for the money. Left footed and big should finally complement our defence. Hopefully we wrap this up asap

    1. Yeah I’m going mainly on optimistic comments from this forum. People seem really enthused by his performances for Serbia or RB … however I can’t tell for sure if they’ve watched a lot of his matches or are just really happy (relieved) we’re actually signing someone? 😆

In any case I hope he turns out to be good, we’ve been crying out for a reliable LCB , personally I was dreaming of Buongiorno or Calafiori but that’s mainly because I watch Serie A, I confess I don’t know much about Austrian Bundesliga

  6. I read somwhere from Austrians that the article is badly interpreted and it actually says that in order for Milan to get him they need to get closer to the requested 25 millions and not that they’re on the verge of signing him.

Any Aussie here who can elaborate?
