Marco Pellegrino

Romano: Pellegrino to Milan ‘here we go’ – he will sign until 2028

The deal that will see Marco Pellegrino join AC Milan from Club Atletico Platense has been given ‘here we go’ status by Fabrizio Romano.

Milan have been in the market for a new central defender ever since the decision was made to send Matteo Gabbia out on loan to Villarreal in LaLiga, leaving Stefano Pioli with Fikayo Tomori, Malick Thiaw, Pierre Kalulu and Simon Kjaer to pick from.

According to the latest from Romano, Milan have completed the Pellegrino deal with Platense. The 2002-born centre-back will sign a contract until until 2028 and the deal will cost around €3m as a transfer fee.

Pellegrino has an Italian passport and thus will not take up a non-EU spot, and he will join as one of the highest rated defensive prospects in Argentina having made 17 appearances for Platense this season.

Where he slots into the defensive hierarchies remains to be seen, but Milan have doubled down on their strategy of filling gaps in the squad with young talent.

  1. Let’s hope he’s more of a 🇩🇪 Thiaw and less of a 🇮🇹 Caldara

Good luck 🇦🇷 Pellegrino, at least he’s natural at LCB 😀

  2. Hope he does well.. aside from Thiaw, our young defensive signings hasn’t been able to prove themselves.. Pioli isn’t someone who likes to give young players chance, I hope he got sacked soon.
