Romano: Rangnick and Milan firmly in race for Salzburg star – Juventus failed with 2019 attempt

AC Milan have found themselves in a three-team battle to land Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai this summer, it is claimed.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s latest for Calciomercato.com, the 20-year-old is attracting interest from a number of top clubs given his exploits for Salzburg both domestically and in the Champions League.

The first Italian club to show interest were Juventus a year and a half ago back in January 2019. The Bianconeri hatched a plan to sign Szoboszlai and send him to Sassuolo in order to leave him with coach rOBERTO De Zerbi for six months or a year and then evaluate him after.

Dominik preferred to stay in Salzburg and now Milan and Ralf Rangnick are circling, with Romano describing the Rossoneri as ‘definitely in the running’ while Napoli are also considered keen.

Meanwhile there may also be plenty of interest from abroad, especially if an auction were to be sparked, something the Austrian club would thoroughly enjoy.
