Romano: Roma join Milan in race for Bundesliga striker with decision imminent

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan expressed an interest in signing Sardar Azmoun from Bayer Leverkusen but it is their rivals Roma that are now in a good position to land him.

It is no secret that Milan are in the market for a new centre-forward as they look to put the finishing touches to their squad before the window closes, aiming to give Stefano Pioli an option to rotate with Olivier Giroud.

This would also free up Lorenzo Colombo for a loan spell to a club within Serie A so he can continue to get consistent playing time which is necessary for his development at 21 years of age.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Roma have joined the race for Azmoun after Milan did last week. Bayer Leverkusen sources have even confirmed that there is a bid on the table ‘also from Roma’

The player is expected to make a decision in the next few hours, but it is not made clear whether he is deciding between Milan and Roma or if there are other clubs involved.
