‘Expect contacts for Ricci’ – Romano states Milan continuing to evaluate Torino star

Samuele Ricci has been seriously linked with a move to AC Milan for almost a year now, if not longer, and it seems this will continue.

There has been a constant flirting with the idea of Ricci recently. However, Milan are seemingly unsure about the midfielder. His quality is known, but whether he is the right profile to add to the midfield is a holdup.

Luka Modric, Granit Xhaka and Javi Guerra represent the three standouts, it seems, with the former already done by all accounts. With this, you would assume that there is no room for the Torino star, but the links continue.

The situation

With clarity needed on things, Fabrizio Romano spoke on his YouTube channel about the interest, and his words have been relayed by Milan News.

“We also expect contacts for Samuele Ricci. We are not aware of any negotiations between Torino and Atalanta for the Azzurri midfielder. Milan continues to make internal evaluations on Ricci, which they have been working on for months.

“The Rossoneri must decide whether to sink or not. The internal evaluations are ongoing.”

From that, it seems that there will still be some time before we know what the Rossoneri will do. The last time a similar event occurred, Alessandro Buongiorno headed to Napoli, where he won the Scudetto. A decision is needed quickly, in other words.

      1. Yeah but I’m not sure what formation Allegri will use. I have read he could alternate between several formations. Idk really.

        1. 4-3-3 most likely, he used it with us last time

3-5-2 (we have Puli, Gimenez and Leao in attack which f-s up this version) and 3-4-3 didn’t really work, fragile midfield was the main issue we had last season.

4-4-2 would be also doable I guess… if Leao can try SS role

but true let’s wait for friendlies

          1. Maybe in some games we can switch from 433 to 352, substituting Leao at least and possibly also Pulisic or put Pulisic in the midfield under Gimenez (or his substitute). Then our midfield become more compact. This might be beneficial when leading against top team say 1-0 or 2-1 or something like that. Or for an important draw. Idk. I’m looking forward to us selling Theo and interesting to see who our next left back will be and how he will link up with Leao or how the midfield will link with Leao. I imagine xhakha and Modric will be good for Leao deep runs. But let’s see.

      2. I think the idea for the starting 3 in midfield is Guerra-Modric-Xhaka, or even Guerra-Xhaka-Fofana. Then Modric/Fofana (depending on who is starting), plus RLC, Bondo and maybe one more player (Pobega? Vos?) on the bench. I don’t think we’ll be getting Xhaka, Guerra AND Ricci. We’re not dropping ~70M on midfield only, when we’re looking at CB, LB (two of them actually), RB and even striker, apparently.

  1. If they manage to get Guerra, Xhaka, Modric, Ricci, Vanderson, Kiwior, Leoni in 1 transfer market…

    I will become Allegri’s N1 fan!

Attack can have Immobile and Chiesa

      1. i love how people randomly say this without knowing what state the team is at… we have 2 midfielders… 1 functional fullback after Theo leaves. that’s already 6 players to be signed

Jovic also left, so bare minimum is gonna be 7… so if you can’t count just stfu

        1. Yes but the other side of this is you are always coming up with these lists of players that we’ll just “get”, like in FM. Your list above is at least 140M worth of players. I think we’re spending tops 80M, regardless of further sales. This means Xhaka, Guerra OR Ricci (not Guerra AND Ricci), ONE CB, not two, and then an LB.

I don’t know where you’re getting “we have 2 midfielders” because we have Fofana, RLC, Musah (yes, technically still on the books), Bondo, Pobega and Adli. So that’s six. Even if the current likeliest rumors come true, i.e. Musah leaves to Napoli and Xhaka and Modric arrive, that’s seven midfielders for three positions.

Then for striker we still have Colombo, who if you ask me would make a fine no. 3 or even no. 2 ST, given that we have zero continental competition next season, so we only need one striker.

Fullbacks we have Jimenez, Saelemaekers, Royal and Terraciano (say what you will about those two). And if you count Bartesaghi as a fullback, him as well. And Theo hasn’t even left yet.

As for CB we have four, plus Bartesaghi again.

So, to begin with, 70% of your list depends on outgoings that haven’t even occurred.

          Just saying.

          1. Thiaw/Tomori exit been said since day one…

Alexis isn’t RB… and if Alexis is RB then we have no covers for wingers…

we have 15-16 players max atm.

if we count all the deadweights we had last season and still decide to keep them, top 4 won’t be plausible….

Roma now have Gasperini, Napoli are gonna be stronger, Inter still gonna go for Scudetto and Juve finally have found balance and will only get better in mercato… last season we didn’t build midfield properly and fullbacks were just $hit, at some point these clowns should learn

  2. Im expecting us to sign Luka Modric, Granit Xhaka and Javi Guerra, while keeping Fofana, Bondo and R-L-C.

Meanwhile Musah goes to Napoli, Bennacer and Pobega gets loaned out again because noone wants to buy them, and Ricci goes to another team, plays fantastic and more then doubles in value.

Its funny that we are suppose to do an “italian revolution” but passes on one of the most promising italian midfielders to sign an old Swiss, a really old Croatian and a young Spaniard?

IMO Ricci, Guerra and Modric would had been the perfect mix of signings.

Ricci, Fofana, Modric to start, Guerra, Bondo and R-L-C as substitutes.

    1. Would be cool with Italians but I think Guarra is ahead of Ricci which I also understand. Also I think Riccis price is above Guerra. Guerra have some nice stats physically and also goals and assists and a young age. I’d rather we get Leoni as Italian, we use berthesagi and maybe buy lorenzo Lucca for the attack together with Gimenez. Idk.

  3. Starting midfield Guerra, Modric, Xhaka. Ricci is overrated. Milan should sign Bouaddi. Bench: RLC, Fofana, Boauddi.

Sell Bondo, Adli, Pobega and Bennacer.
