Ronaldo snubs Milan in Scudetto prediction: “I don’t see this Milan as favourite”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan may have ended their Scudetto drought last season but they are not the favourites to win the title heading into the new campaign, according to Ronaldo Nazario.

Milan were not tipped as the favourites to win the Scudetto last season but they managed to upset the bookmakers, several pundits and a lot of rival fans as they won their last six games to take advantage of Inter’s slip-up against Bologna.

However, now there is a two-fold expectation on Stefano Pioli’s side as they must not only fight to keep the title of being champions but they must also go further in the Champions League too having finished bottom of the group in 2021-22.

Interviewed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ronaldo spoke about the upcoming 2022-23 Serie A season and in particular who he thinks are the current frontrunners in the battle to be crowned champions, with his comments relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“It will be a good fight between Inter and Juve. I don’t see this Milan as favourite, even if whoever wins the Scudetto can never be considered out of the race,” he said.

“Inter could have already won last year, Juve cannot afford another bad year. Milan have a base made up of players and a game idea.”

Ronaldo also spoke about Zlatan Ibrahimovic given that the Brazilian is well known as the idol of the Swede.

“Ibra is a gift that Milan can give themselves at a certain point of the season. But I think the first to be curious to see how he will return is him. When I fought with the knee every now and then I asked myself: ‘What will it be like to come back?’.”

  1. That’s not “snubbing”. He’s just saying they’re not favourites, which is completely legitimate. I think we’d all agree with that.

As for the Champions’ League, going further will be the objective, but I don’t think anyone realistically looks for much more than progressing from the group.

      1. just because you say it sure!

I think we all agree that we aren’t safe to say favorites but we for sure have it in us to go and win the cup next season as well as was last year.

    1. @R. Wait, what’s this? A reasonable comment 😂😂😂. I think exactly the same as R9, Milan aren’t the favorite and in happy they aren’t so there’s no pressure. And I do think Juve and inter will be battling for the most part with the hope that we sneak in there like last year. I guess I’m snubbing my own team too 😂😂😂

  2. So what? Nobody cares about what he thinks. Great player, for sure, but always an imbecile of the field, in all kind of ways.

  3. Lol chill out guys 😀 That is a best thing actually that we are not considered favorites, that’s a lot of pressure to take.
Nobody considered us favorites last year, but look where we ended up 🙂

  4. Just like I used to say, prediction in football is always made on paper but the beautiful game is never played on paper, I agree with him but please watch out for this Milan.

  5. I’m feeling that Adli and CDK will make wonders for us in terms of creative depth, mark my words, we signed two potential game-changers.

  6. I think Milan is favourite. Inter got Lukaku but they already had most goals against last season, so idk what that is gonna change for them and Juve was just swaping players wihout a real plan behind like they’ve always done since Marotta left. Napoli isn’t gonna be as tough like last year, Roma might be the one to watch for, Jose is building an interesting team. Milan still needs some depth in cm and cb but overall we pretty balanced i think.

    1. What’s gonna change is that he will score the goal when they are 0-0, 1-1 are 2-2 draw. Like Genoa, they scored 10 against Salernitana, scoring when you are already 4-1 up doesn’t matter, getting Lukaku for Dzeko is important for them when teams press them they can counter and he can score the goals when needed

  7. Inter will come third. Milan is winning the Scudetto with 89 points plus 56 goals.

Juve will try to close the gap but Hellas Verona and Torino will cause them to loss points to get 82 points, 7 points less than Milan to become second in Serie A.

  8. Everyone mentions mostly Juventus as the favorite, i honestly don’t understand why ! Inter have a more compact team, and again the duo of strikers who won them the title two years ago. Although these returns of old players have proven to be a failure many times . We operate really solidly in these few preparatory games and with new reinforcements I believe we can fight them on an equal footing for the title. Roma could replace Napoli in that battle for four first places.

    1. Inter loose perisic, Lukaku need balls to score from wingers. So i don’t see much différence to last season.
It will not be same whoever replaces perisic

  9. Most times its depth that win matches. Milan should get Sanches , a central defender and perhaps Ziyech….Loan out Saladman. If this happen, then we are complete

  10. R9 is actually right. Of course Milan isn’t the favorite. ALSO We don’t want to be favorites for Scudetto. It just makes the act of winning the trophy even more fantastic and special. Like slaying Darksoul bosses lol

    Forza Milan.

  11. The more people say Juve & Inter are the favorites, the more fighting spirit it will create amongs the Milan players. Bring the **** on! Predict them out of the TOP4! Crush them with your predictions. Let’s see where that’ll lead us. 🙂
