Sacchi warns Milan to ‘beware of Parma’ as they have ‘ideas and talent’

Former AC Milan coach Arrigo Sacchi has suggested that the Rossoneri cannot afford to be complacent against Parma on Saturday given the quality of the newly-promoted team.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Milan News), Sacchi spoke very highly of Parma who managed to get a draw against Fiorentina in their opening game of the season.

Parma impressed in Serie B last season but they have had a fairly chaotic summer and the expectation is that they will do well to avoid an immediate return to the second flight.

There is always pressure to perform at Milan and having only managed to scrape a late draw at home to Torino in the season opener, anything other than a win at the Stadio Ennio Tardini will cause a lot of fans to start getting concerned.

Sacchi felt that Parma deserved to beat Fiorentina and for that reason he thinks they pose a serious threat to Milan.

“I saw them in the first game when they drew against Fiorentina and they made a very good impression. They missed a lot of chances, it’s true, but they dominated the field and probably deserved the victory. Against AC Milan it will be another test, they will have to have the strength to repeat it but I think they have a chance,” Sacchi said.

He thinks that the press of Parma could be what disrupts Milan most if they are able to maintain the intensity.

“The Rossoneri, in their debut against Torino, did not seem brilliant. We saw some limits that have to disappear. And in the end this is fine, because we are only at the beginning of the season. If Parma can press with continuity, as they did against Fiorentina, and develop attacks at speed, then Milan could have some problems. The Rossoneri must not concede space and must be ready to restart immediately,” Sacchi explained.

Milan are not expected to have Morata available due to injury but new players like Strahinja Pavlovic and Youssouf Fofana could start the game, but Sacchi says the project is more important than the individuals.

“Fonseca is working to assemble the players and form a team. It is an operation that takes time and the fans must be patient. Milan’s objective must be to have a collective in which all eleven, excluding no one, participate in the offensive and defensive phases. The project counts, the players come later,” he said.

  1. He didn’t mention that Fonseca is not Italian and that new signings are also foreigners? This is a novelty for him.

    1. He didn’t say anything controversial so how about you show an AC Milan legend some freaking respect or shut the f up.

      1. Like you’ve shown me? That senile xenophobe had a career that lasted about 6 years. His legend status doesn’t excu6him from xenophobic, nationalistic and racist nonsense he keeps spewing every chance he gets. You don’t get a free pass just because you were considered a legend once.

        1. Like I’ve shown you ? you are on a Milan forum and disrespects one of the greatest Milan coaches ever in the club because you doesn’t like his views on Milan lacking Italians in the squad so of course he will get my respect first. That’s not xenophobe its just a view and whether you like it or not doesn’t really matter or change the fact that he knows more about football than anyone around here, me included.

          1. His football knowledge was never questioned even though it was was successful and on display for a very limited time.

Its his morals and his distrust and borderline hate towards anything that is not Italian that keeps rising eyebrows. But yeah lets ignore it because he won a few trophies with Milan.

          2. I always reads his interviews and I simply doesn’t see anything immoral or xenophobic in his comments and I’m a foreigner myself as I’m from Denmark but I truly do find these insinuations that regularly turns up from a section of commenters in his interviews to be far fetched at best and at worst misguided malignant notions.

          3. Nah. It it is obvious it hurt your feelings because you are the one that started talking about disrespecting a Milan legend nonsense, because Shiva was critical of Sacchi constant criticism of new and foreign Milan players just so he could excuse the incompetence of his buddy Pioli.
Maybe it’s too complex for you to grasp that some people aren’t idol worshippers like you and take any criticism of some coach, or famous person they see on TV and consider them a “legend” as disrespect.
Outside of 3 good years at Milan Sacchi was a poor coach. He was just a fad coach. Showed up out of nowhere and was gone before you knew it. Check his resume.
Now he just runs his mouth on TV.

          4. Sacchi si definitely racist. And nationalist. He was pragmatic about it when he was a coach but, oh yeah, the signs are all there.
            And he talks 2 much

          5. flyingturtle you can be a nationalist without being a racists and I havent seen him say one single racist comment or anything that suggest he is one..

          6. No 🔴⚫️ i took offense in his xenophobe comment not the other stuff he said so clearly you didn’t grasp the difference between criticismn and accusations.
HUGE difference so you proved my point that you didn’t grasp it.

          7. “Like I’ve shown you ? you are on a Milan forum and disrespects one of the greatest Milan coaches ever in the club because you doesn’t like his views on Milan lacking Italians in the squad so of course he will get my respect first.”

            These are your words brother.
Apparently you can’t even grasp your own comments.
It’s one thing to disagree with Shiva, but when you start talking about disrespecting a Milan legend on a Milan forum, and Sacchi will always have your respect because he is a Milan legend you sound like an idol worshipper.
Look up your conversation with Shiva. He made a comment based on facts because Sacchi spent all year long talking about Milan and it’s foreign players(facts), no harm, no foul, and you right away attacked him and demanded respect for someone you consider a legend. Try grasping that.

          8. Sure. But old folk like him. They’re right wing, they’re nationalist and they’re racist. It’s a classic stereotype but a true one.
As for what he said or didn’t say. Search the www and you shall find concrete proof of it. There was a lot of backlash for his comments in 2015 for example.

          9. No as already said I took offense in his xenophobe and racist accusations comment how many times do i need to repeat myself to get that into your thick skull.
Criticism is one thing which is fine but baseless accusations is a whole different matter and as i have repeatedly said I haven’t seen one racist comment from him and I read all of his interviews. I’ve never said that Sacchi is above criticism but those accusations goes well beyond that so dont give a damn for your idol worshipping notion.
Is it now racism to want more Italians in an Italian team or what ? The bar has really been set beyond low then now. f’ikng hell that’s beyond ridiculous if that is the case in your guys eyes.
Which facts come with some proof or just shut the f up yourself.

          10. flyingturtle I hasn’t see any proof of that to actually be the case and calling old people racists might not be racists but is it really any better to put all elderly under that umbrella either.

          11. im not saying all old people are racist but like i said, the stereotype is true and you know one when you seen one. Well in your case you dont know one when you seen one 😀

wanna know which stereotype you fall under?

          12. There’s a massive issue among some her who don’t understand the history and relevance of this club…to say Sacchi didn’t revolutionise anything is just beyond moronic. Only someone who has no clue about him would say that. I mean the ball less phantom training sessions, the three styles of press, the 30m rule for defence to attack, he also basically invented the false 9….pep and Klopp like you say are students of Sacchi, they admit this.

I’ve had a few ding dongs on here with some people but I respect them as Milan fans, and just because I disagree with them on one matter, doesn’t mean I don’t agree with them on others…I get that not everyone is our age and remembers the glory years, but the bottom line is, learn the history of your club, learn what it did, it’s relevance and how it changed the game. Modern day United fans know about 58….I can’t however respect some Schmuck who claims to be a Milan fan yet puts Madrid on a pedestal of being the greatest club of all time, and who says Sacchi didn’t achieve jack…I mean it’s beyond nonsense…you can’t debate a moron.

          13. flyingturtle nowadays its probably half and half in regard of elder people or at least close to it.

I’m far left so pretty sure i can spot one.

If Sacchi is a racist for wanting more Italians in an Italian club I guess all of those who want less Italians is racists as well or what ? It goes both ways.

          14. you gotta look at his upbringing if you wanna determine a stereotype. Sacchi si from working class in a smoll town post ww2 italy.

          15. flyingturtle everything is a possibility but Italy also had/has a strong left wing that disliked Mussolini for a good word but i just don’t see him wanting more Italians in the league as being racist. I did find a quote from him though at an award show that could be percieved as such but as i read it and as he later explained it was more about cohesiveness pride and Italy is a country made up of ethnic Italians so i actually can understand what he meant even if it came off a bit crass.

        2. “His football knowledge was never questioned even though it was was successful and on display for a very limited time.”

          FACTS!!!
His career was few good years and nothing else. Retired before he was 50

Serena slams Sacchi for blaming Baggio over 1994 World Cup loss

“Many at the time considered Sacchi’s approach to be too rigid and not taking into account the qualities of his players, believing Baggio got them to the Final in spite of the coach and not because of him.”

Don’t tell the truth. It hurts people’s feelings

          1. I assume you are taking a jibe at me 🔴⚫️ with that remark, why would it hurt my feeling that he said that and why would it hurt Shivas feelings that Sachhi would want more Italians in the team, its nothing but points of view whereas his baseless accusations of him being a racist and a xenophobe is just downright preposterous and offensive towards a club legend. You see the difference or what or is it to complex for you to grasp or what ?

          2. Nothing you say has any relevance nameless 🔴⚫️ You stated openly on this Milan website within the last few weeks that ‘Real Madrid are the best club in sports’…Why don’t you go support them then and at the same time, go f@ck yourself? No true Milan fan would make that claim. Milan as a club a far far above the clowns in white…You’re problem as always is you just analyse statistics, you probably see 15 CLs and make an assumption based on that.

You are just rude. Because Martin has opinion about Sacchi. I’m sure like me, Martin remembers first hand how Sacchi transformed this magnificent club from also rans to the best club side in the history of the game. His career and success was short lived for a reason, you only have to listen to Gullit, Van Basten et al in their interviews to know why. But you can’t get that from looking at statistics… Sacchi is in the top 5 of managers in history, in fact only Paisley and Pep have changed the way the game is played and made such an impact. Clough achieved greatness that will never be replicated and Ferguson was the king of longevity and rebuilding squad after squad..

          3. @Drew, Real Madrid is the best club in sports, that’s a fact. Any objective fan of any club knows that. Just because I am not a delusional Milan fan like you doesn’t mean that what I say isn’t true.
You operate on emotions, I operate on common sense and facts. That’s why you getting so emotional even now.
Sacchi didn’t transform jack. Berlusconi transformed Milan by buying the best players in the world at the time, who btw were foreign.
Sacchi also didn’t do jack after Milan. Check his resume. Facts don’t care about your feelings.

          4. Why are Madrid the best club in sports? Please talk me through that one? Please in front of all these wonderful Milan fans. You clearly come from a background on non football understanding, and have merely latched into it in recent times. No true football fan would ever say that. Would you hear a Man United fan say Liverpool were the better side?

Any yeah I do work on emotions, football is a game founded on and based on emotions, and if you can’t grasp that, perhaps you’re looking in the wrong areas for a sport to follow…

After Milan, Sacchi took Italy to a World Cup final and I f not for the inject to Baggio would probably have won it. Equally, Rinus Michels and Brian Clough had short lived careers amounting to the same time frame as Sacchi, longevity doesn’t determine greatness. Alex Ferguson was a great manager but he didn’t revolutionise the game like Sacchi did,

          5. Thanks drew

Both Klopp and Guardiola has both said that they are to some extent inspired by Sacchi so guess that should say a thing or two.

          6. @Drew.
If someone needs to explain to you why Real Madrid is the biggest club in sports then you are the one that comes from a background on non football understanding, and have merely latched into it in recent times.
Check their accomplishments and compare them with any other club.
That other nonsense you spew about no true fan would say that about another club, miss me with that. No true meathead fan would say that, but a mature fully developed person, not you, would look at facts and operate based on facts.
When it comes to your nonsense about Sacchi would have won the WC if it wasn’t for the inject of Baggio, shows how little you know. Italy was dog sh!t at that WC, barely got out of the group stages. In the knockout stages Baggio scored 5 goals and dragged Sacchi to the final. That’s why aldo serena said that Italy got to the Final in spite of Sacchi and not because of him, after that coward took a shot at Baggio recently. In the penalty shootout even if Baggio scored, Brazil next penalty would have won them the WC because Baresi and Massaro missed their penalties prior to Baggio.
Sorry to hurt your feelings with facts. Try bringing facts next time, spare me your emotions.

          7. Did you watch the 94 World Cup final? I did…live on tv sunshine . There’s we’re at least 3 chances that a fully fit Baggio would I’ve scored in normal time.

And yet again from your latest post it just shows you are someone who reads Wikipedia. Had Baggio scored then the game wouldn’t have gone to penalties, you’re just focusing ont he famous Baggio penalty miss, because you that’s all you read online…

Hi want to hear why you… a Milan fan says Real Madrid are the best club in sports..above Milan, don’t try and sidestep Witt some immature ‘if you don’t know’ nonsense…most successful doesn’t determine greatest…that’s where you fail as a football fan…statistically based on trophies Rangers are the most successful club in Britain…doesn’t make them the greatest

  2. who knows what this Milan could achieve? they kept best players, but some of them did not perform as we expected last season. looks on Leao. great potential, but only a bit of efficiency. instead of being leader he make a silly rap (he forget that he is rich).
    .
we need more Italian and Brasilian in the squad, because they will give the team winning mentality. as in the Milan of Berlusconi. I’m happy that Emerson came, but we need more Brasilians and Italians.

  3. Renegat: you Are on the Right way! But Morata is like an italian!

I meant: from all over the world Not USA. Nobody can deny that wie habe a lot oft troubles with a Special group,of foreigners! Go gitanos and Save Mallorca
