Sacchi: Milan’s season is a ‘masterpiece’ having ‘invested half of what Juventus and Inter have’

By Oliver Fisher -

Former AC Milan head coach Arrigo Sacchi believes that the current Rossoneri team are having a ‘masterpiece’ season considering various factors.

Milan travel to the Mapei Stadium to face Sassuolo on Sunday with a simple equation facing them: they must draw or win against the Neroverdi in order to be crowned winners of the Scudetto ahead of their city rivals Inter, who are playing at the same time (18:00 CEST) against Sampdoria at San Siro.

It will not be an easy task at all though with Sassuolo a dangerous side, something their 3-1 win against the Rossoneri earlier this season showed, but recent results and a run of 8 clean sheets in 10 league games has fans optimistic.

Sacchi spoke during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport about Milan’s chances of winning the Scudetto when many did not have them down as favourites coming into the season or even the final few games.

“Milan are making a masterpiece because they have invested half of what Juventus and Inter have invested. A team that has spent, but has not put the budget in difficulty and that wins is rarely seen,” he said (via SempreMilan.it).

“Everything starts from the top that is the club, with its history, its visions and its competence, up to the style. Today Milan face the opponent in a way that seems to some unscrupulous, but it is not like that.

“Risk is the basis of every adventure: if you do not take risks, you go into the routine and you are already in pessimism. Courage and innovation is the child of knowledge. This team, together with the smaller ones, is a team that plays differently.”
