Saelemaekers discusses being used in new role as he brands Milan ‘almost complete’ after injury woes

By Oliver Fisher -

Alexis Saelemaekers was interviewed by Milan TV before the Rossoneri’s game against Sampdoria this afternoon.

Milan will be looking to continue their winning ways from before the international break when they host Sampdoria on Saturday lunchtime.

Pioli’s men bounced back from two consecutive defeats (Napoli and Man Utd) with a crucial win against Fiorentina before the interval. After struggling to score prior to the game, they decided to send a signal as they bagged three goals.

There were some eyebrows raised when it was confirmed that Alexis Saelemaekers will in fact be starting in the right-back position over his usual spot on the right wing with Davide Calabria injured and Diogo Dalot having played 90 minutes three times over the international break.

The Belgian spoke to the club’s official channel channels, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews.

On the final 10 games: “I think now we have to think about the league. I come from a team where there are different ideas but now we have to put into practice everything the coach tells us at Milanello and try to win the three points.”

On the injury crisis being almost over: “The team is now almost complete, it was a difficult period without many important players. Today we have to show that we are a strong team.”

On his favourite role: “I don’t have a role that I like more, when I’m on the pitch I try to do everything I can to help the team, that’s what’s important for me.”
