Alexis Saelemaekers was one of the most in-form players in Serie A in the final parts of the season, and now he has returned to AC Milan.
In the past few months, the stories about Saelemaekers and his future have been far away from Milan, making a return look near impossible. Whilst a brief moment to assess options was expected, it seemed more likely that he would return and leave than stay to play a part.

However, with AS Roma unable to negotiate a deal with Igli Tare for the Belgian’s purchase, there is a chance he could play for Milan next season. After all, he provides a versatile profile that Massimiliano Allegri could utilise.
Nevertheless, the winger has not spoken to the new Rossoneri coach yet, as he revealed in a press conference with Belgium earlier today, and his words to the press have been relayed by Milan News.
“I’m coming off a good season, I’m very happy. My loan at Roma has ended. We’ll see what happens, it’s up to me to make the right choices for the rest of my career. I haven’t had any contact with Massimiliano Allegri yet.
“Staying at Milan is an option. I feel good at this club. I have to find a project that gives me space. This season was a turning point for me. I had never had such a serious injury. The club trusted me, I was able to play straight away.
“They helped me get back to my level. I managed to get some good statistics. I will try to take advantage of that in the coming months.”
Perfect backup for the RW position (Pulisic). Keep him. Sottil is the backup for the LW position (Leao).
Alexis is great for Allegri. In fact I think he would even play more than Pulisic. Something ells me Leao and Pulisic would never see the field together under Allegri.

If we play 3 CD, he will be good with Pulisic on the right. He has the speed to recover balls if they couple him with someone who positioning is sound in the midfield, decent mobility, solid strength that can read the game with ball distribution skills.
I think TR benefited from the attention our left flank and Pulisic was drawing from overloads in the offensive third. His defensive game was decent against smaller teams. He lost his effectiveness against better competition. He got goals against a tired and worn out Inter. The other goals came against minnows.
Letting Theo go will definitely see our midfield lose a lot of bite offensively. So they will need to be imperial in defending as a unit. Tavares with Ricci would be replacements for Theo and Tijjani.
I doubt they will be able to land both and will likely want a cheaper alternative on the left.
Oh I would love to see Tavares replacing Theo!!
