Saelemaekers highlights the ‘lesson’ from Salernitana and brands team-mate a ‘phenomenon’

AC Milan winger Alexis Saelemaekers has spoken about the ‘lesson’ that the team learned during their draw against Salernitana.

Milan had a chance to heap pressure on their title rivals Inter and Napoli by taking care of business against the bottom-placed side in the league last Saturday night but they failed to do so, instead drawing 2-2 thanks to Ante Rebic’s equaliser inside the final 20 minutes.

In the end Inter and Napoli would lose and draw respectively so no ground was lost, but it certainly was a wake-up call for Pioli’s side after three straight wins to begin February that no fixture must be taken lightly.

Saelemaekers spoke during an interview with SportMediaset about the current moment Milan are in ahead of Friday night’s game at San Siro against Udinese, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

On the draw against Salernitana: “It is a lesson for us in view of the next matches. We have to learn from this situation. We are a team that has worked hard to get where we have come, and it is important to demonstrate this by winning some trophies.”

On the Scudetto: “If we win the Scudetto, I’ll make my hair and goatee coloured red.

On Leao: “As a singer, I have to be honest, I give him 4 out of 10. Instead as a player I give him a nice 8.5. He can still raise his level of play because he is a phenomenon.”
