Mayor Sala confirms Milan are looking at La Maura site for stadium but Inter are a mystery

By Oliver Fisher -

The Mayor of Milan Beppe Sala has once again spoken out about the new stadium project and confirmed that AC Milan are evaluating an alternative site.

It was reported yesterday by La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calciomercato.com) that Inter have been working in great secrecy for some time to detach themselves from the Rossoneri and build their own stadium, adding that the location is top secret and that the Nerazzurri don’t want to risk ruining agreement already signed with the entrepreneur who owns the private land.

The report also spoke of a tense relationship between the Nerazzurri president Steven Zhang and Milan’s new owner, Gerry Cardinale regarding meetings promised but never delivered.

Sala spoke on the sidelines of a press conference at Palazzo Marino and he was asked about the idea of Milan and Inter building two separate new stadiums in different areas of the city. He confirmed that he had not received communication from the two teams, who were urgently summoned to keep the municipality updated.

“I called the teams and asked to come tomorrow morning because I too am sometimes in the position of not having information and reading it in the press,” he said (via Calciomercato.com).

“While it is clear to me that Milan this point looks with interest at La Maura, I don’t understand where Inter are looking instead. So tomorrow morning they will come to me to clarify things together.”

  1. The municipality doesn’t deserve any updates after they have been dragging out things and making up new demands for years.
I would understand it though if it was the case that a club was planning to build on top of roman or etruscan ruins then of course it wouldnt be ok to demolish it but these tossers in milano should be more than happy that they havent yet been lynched by an angry mob.
