RB Salzburg star Okafor responds to rumours of interest from ‘great club’ Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Red Bull Salzburg star Noah Okafor is on AC Milan’s list of players they are monitoring, and the forward has suggested he would be open to a move to Italy.

Calciomercato.com recently reported that a new reinforcement will be sought for the attack next summer as Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara want to give Stefano Pioli a No.9 to entrust for the future.

The philosophy has not changed despite the club passing from Elliott Management to RedBird Capital meaning a young forward will be targeted, with Armando Broja of Chelsea, Jonathan David of Lille and Okafor – who scored against the Rossoneri for Red Bull Salzburg – all on the list.

Okafor spoke during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport on the eve of his side’s game at a sold out San Siro where they know only a win against Milan would be enough to reach the knockout stages. His comments were relayed by Calciomercato.com.

On Milan’s interest: “One step at a time, now I’m thinking of Salzburg.”

On tomorrow’s game “We have no obligation to win. We would be happy if we managed to continue on the European path. Better if in the Champions League. Milan are a great club, with legendary history.”

On his future: “Preferences for the future? No. Whether it’s England, Spain, Italy or Germany, every league and every club has a particular charm. When there is something concrete we will evaluate.”
