Salzburger Nachrichten: Milan offer €20m for Pavlovic – RB Salzburg ask for more

By Oliver Fisher -

A report from Austria has claimed that AC Milan have made an offer for Strahinja Pavlović but it is not yet at the amount that Red Bull Salzburg want.

Now that the European Football Championship is over, the mercato is starting to move and the Salzburger Nachrichten have given an update on some of the Red Bull Salzburg players that are in demand.

The hottest stock at the moment is Strahinja Pavlović who is high on the wish list of Milan. The Rossoneri management and player are said to have already reached an agreement over personal terms.

The source claims that the sticking point is currently the transfer fee that Milan would pay the Austrian club. The directors have offered €20m including bonuses so far, but Die Roten Bullen want €5m more to sanction the sale.

The Diavolo are in the market for a new centre-back not just because of Simon Kjaer’s exit after the expiration of his contract but also because of the sheer amount of goals conceded.

With Paulo Fonseca installed as the new head coach, there seems to be a desire to sign a left-footed player to insert into the back four as a partner to Fikayo Tomori.

  1. Decent first offer. We should get it over the line. He is a good player. Modern day version of Vidic or Stam. A tough physical defender which is something we haven’t had for a while. Next up, sign another CF. Ideally a younger player.

    1. Next up sign a DM. I will not go another season with a bunch of skinny fops running around in front of the back four.

    2. I agree that he is the modern version of Vidic. We should get him, 5 mill difference is reachable.

But next we should focus more on getting a new DM who can be our anchorman, I think Hojbjerg can be the right guy with the right price.

For centre forward, we can live with Morata, Jovic and Okafor for the time being while slowly finding the right profile for our future.

    1. Reminds me of the 22m+Bacca deal for Castillejo too much. Absolutely terrible deal. Especially considering Bacca was probably the best striker we’ve had in the past 10 years. No offense to Giroud or Zlatan but both were way past their primes.

      1. I can do one better. Caldara for bonuci 🥶

Bacca was a machine, he just needed providers around him. He took the eminem line ‘if you had one shoot or one opportunity’ very literally.

        1. Yeah it was a rubbish deal both ways. Buying Bonucci, giving him the arm band and then him showing absolutely no loyalty to the club and leaving the next season. Crazy. People complain too much about now, we did way worse things in the last decade, and overpaying average players was one of the reasons the club nearly went bankrupt.

          1. We just can’t find balance, a. Overpaying cràp players or lowballing semigood ones.

  2. Thank god !! I thought we had a barrier that forbids us to reach 20M€ per player !!
Well 5M€ more to cover. I guess (I hope) this will be over quickly.

  3. This will probably be the 23+2 formula or the 21+4 formula, just don’t do what we did to sign Castillejo, the 22+Carlos Bacca deal was absolutely ridiculous, worst bit of business in the history of the club, we’ve signed enough 20m+ flops like Castillejo, Conti, Bertolacci etc

    1. I wouldn’t consider Conti a flop. He had a great start to his Milan career but after he got a serious ACL injury in training by a Bonaventura tackle (I think) he was never the same player again. Even when he recovered from that injury, shortly after he injured the same knee again.
      Similar to Caldara.
The other 2 were just bums.

      1. That’s a flop my friend, he had no significant impact other than making up the numbers. It’s like saying Rivaldo wasn’t a Milan flop just because he was once upon a time the best player in the world but we all know he flopped badly. Bertolacci wasn’t a bad player either in Lecce colours same as Conti for Atalanta, but both were absolutely flops, we got less than 80 matches out of both of them combined for over close to 60m paid, nevermind their salaries.

  4. The management can offer 20m for Pavlovic but less than 15m for the most important position the team needed most in Fofana.

    Jokers

  5. I hope they close this one, Fofana and Fullkrug before next week. That would be awsome. Feels like there are just around 5 mil apart from each transfer.

Concidering they didnt have to pay the intended 40 mil + commission for Zirkzee and got Morata for 13 mil they should have at least 15 mil extra to splash into Fullkrug, Fofana and Pavlovic. Im all for getting the best price, as long as they dont actually lose the player to someone else.

  6. So approximate costs are:

    Fofana – 20M
    Pavkovic – 30M
    Morata – 13M
    Fulkurg – 17M (15-20M)
    Sama – 25M

    Total 105M (approx)

Weren’t we told our transfer budget was 100M????? So what is the problem in getting ALL these deals over the line? Should all be attainable no??? Unless it was more Redbird BS lol. Which is very likely

35M yearly budget is all we have gents – plus player sales (22M for CDK so far) – so unless we sell Benny or Theo we aren’t getting all those player mentioned above. And it’s why we haggle over every penny as currently we only have 57M to play with?? Minus Morata (13M) and that leaves us with 44M left over on transfers.

It’s math. We need to fill all of those holes in the squad for a total of 57M thus far – and we now have 44m left.

Let’s see what happens w our cheap owners.

    Good times
