Salzburger Nachrichten: Pavlovic skips RB Salzburg training and is already in Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Strahinja Pavlovic is all set to complete his move to AC Milan from Red Bull Salzburg and he is already in Italy, according to a report.

With Simon Kjaer having departed on a free transfer and with all the defensive struggles last season, the Milan management decided to go out and sign a player to try and bolster the rearguard. Pavlovic’s name has been linked for weeks, and Fabrizio Romano gave the operation ‘here we go’ status last night.

According to the local news outlet Salzburger Nachrichten who cover the Austrian side, the closing of the deal between Milan and Salzburg for Pavlovic is imminent, so much so that the Serbian central defender did not train today.

Instead, he is already in Milan where he will undergo his medical once he gets approval to do so, and then presumably he will fly out to the United States to join the rest of the squad on their preseason tour.

The deal should close at €18m plus €2m in bonuses as per the source, which certainly feels like a good price for a 23-year-old who ticks virtually every box in terms of what Milan were looking for in a centre-back signing.

  1. What a fantastic deal! Some may doubt management, but they know how to twist arms and get signings done at a great price. Anyone else would have paid 30 million.

      1. You should care. This is about the financial stability of this team. Not about your wishes to get signings done faster for way more than we should pay.

        1. Seems like you are a new fan of milan. Signing players must be done in a timely manner so they are at full disposal especially when it’s a new coach. We have suffered a lot in the past with late signings who take literally the first half of the season to settle and learn tactics by then the other teams are way ahead.

      2. But you really should care in regard of how much we pay because if we just jump at the initial demands we might lose out on other targets.
Don’t get me wrong though July has been rather tiresome in regard of rumors and the lack of deals happening but a lot of people around here seriously should skip the mercato articles as they read every story as being something carved in stone when non except the management and the other clubs involved knows the validity of the stories portrayed in the media.

      3. Save 5 Mil here, and another 5 Mil there.
And suddenly you can renew Mike and Theo until 2030 or something like that.

    1. 18m plus bonuses is a pretty sweet deal for our top defensive target. How about saying something positive every once in a while?

        1. Nope. My money goes on Bartholomeu. He wins by a huge margin. That kid has NEVER said anything even remotely positive here. Not even once. Go and check if you don’t believe me. 🙂

          1. Not sure about positive, but Barts brings some really excellent critical thinking more often than not. I’ve learn a lot reading his stuff.

      1. should I be over the moon that it takes weeks to sign a player? What about Morata, they did that deal in days..

I like efficiency. If i come off bitter when they dont seem efficient so be it

        1. Negotiations vary with each team. It’s not uniform. Morata was simply an existing exit clause. No negotiations needed beyond the player only.

We also need to do exits with this rather large squad. They have to be picky with who they signed.

          1. I don’t think they do. If both parties want to make a deal an agreement can be found pretty quickly. Last last day transfers are a perfect example of this..

          2. Transfers definitely vary between each team. This transfer is pretty average in length that it took. Calafiori took Arsenal a while

        2. No.

You come off bitter because you are still upset about Maldini.

You didnt say a word when they took MONTHS to sign CDK.

          1. I don’t give a flying F about Maldini.

And I said time and again we should drop ckd pursuit and sign someone else, think it was SMS I was hoping for

        3. You are measuring efficiency as a function of time.

          Maybe consider time and money?

If 5m per month is the rate of savings, I’ll take it if we are getting the targets we want most of the time.

    2. What a surprise, posting on every article about one of your girlfriends. You sure talk like you’re paid by the hour to be a clown by Redbird, but it’s all natural talent for ya

    3. It took Arsenal 3 weeks to sign Calafiori. I’m not sure where you get the idea that deals are done in days from, that doesn’t happen.

  2. 20m euro total already are bargain because salzburg ask 25m euro . He is left footed CB and not on last year contract

    1. Yes this is massive purchase, 2 great players in first month and third already on the way… now you can understand why management are so slow… But some sort of fans still say it is Fu*king management and Americans and Cardinale out 🤔 they miss the Yong Li days when we throw 200m € in two weeks for mid table players and almost bankrupt

  3. This guys is really good! When I first saw him a few years ago when we played Salzburg I was amazed by how strong he is. This will be a huge upgrade to our defense. Question is, who of our current CBs will have to give way ?
