San Siro is Milan’s ‘House of Horrors’: The worrying stats after Milan’s loss to Sassuolo

By Oliver Fisher -

After AC Milan’s latest home setback against Sassuolo last night, some worrying statistics have begun to emerge about the team’s struggles in 2021.

Hakan Calhanoglu gave Milan a first half lead, and heading into the final 15 minutes the team were well placed for a vital win, but Raspadori came off the bench and scored twice in the space of a few minutes to turn the game on its head and give Sassuolo all three points.

Below are some stats from the game…

➤ Milan have amassed just 11 points from 10 home league games in 2021.

➤ Pioli’s team have conceded 20 goals in the last 15 games across all competitions, with just one clean sheet against Hellas Verona on 7 March.

➤ The Rossoneri have 26 points in 17 home games, but 40 in 15 away matches.

➤ The 5 home defeats in 2021 so far is the same number as those arrived in the previous 36 home games. Losing 5 home games in the first 17 in a single season has only happened three times in the club’s history before this year.

➤ Milan have played 18 league games in 2021. They have won 32 points out of the 54 available, with 10 wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats. The total number of goals scored is 28, while the goals conceded are 22. The ranking of the other teams is…

Inter: 43pts (18 games)
Atalanta: 42pts (18 matches)
Juventus: 41pts (19 games)
Lazio: 37pts (16 matches)
Napoli: 35pts (18 matches)
Milan: 32pts (18 matches)
Roma: 27pts (17 matches)
