Sarri believes Milan will improve after new appointments: “There are many rivals”

AC Milan and Lazio are just two sides that will hope for a place in Europe next season. However, Maurizio Sarri is already wary of the competition from the Rossoneri.

This season has caused several changes to occur within the Milan sphere. In the management, there is a new sporting director, whilst a new head coach has arrived to right the wrongs of the two Portuguese coaches that came before him.

However, it could have been a different Italian. As we know, Sarri was once in the mix to be named Sergio Conceicao’s replacement, but Igli Tare went all out for Massimiliano Allegri instead. A decision which Sarri feels will help the Rossoneri.

European-bound

There is a clear need to return to a European place next season for the Diavolo, if simply for financial reasons. However, it also helps to draw players in and keep them, as we have seen with Mike Maignan.

Today, Sarri spoke to Corriere dello Sport, and his words have been relayed by Milan Press.

“The coach’s job is to get the team to perform at 100%, but then there are limits. If you’re a 7 and you give 100%, it’s not enough because if ten teams are worth eight, you’ll finish eleventh. If the limit is the same as last year, you’ll struggle to get back into Europe.

“There are many rivals, Bologna and Milan won’t finish ninth and eighth again. Watch out for Como, they’ll fight for Europe. This is the national picture. Getting back into Europe won’t be easy. Let’s see how far the team can get, if by reaching 100%, there will be further margins.”
