Maurizio Sarri has been linked with the AC Milan job again, as Sergio Conceicao is set to depart in the summer, and a return to Italian football could thus be on the cards for the manager.
Sarri has been out of contract since the summer of 2024, when he left Lazio, and has been waiting for the right opportunity to get back in action. As Milan are looking for a new manager ahead of next season, the 66-year-old has inevitably been linked with the club.
In one of our recent bonus articles on Substack, we discussed Sarri’s candidacy and why he could be the right man for Milan, looking at his record with the top sides and the money invested in each season (versus the final position). As you can see below, his points-per-game average is impressive.

The Lazio spell is the big caveat, of course, as there was a clear decline for the manager. However, Lazio barely invested anything in the mercato during that period. In fact, they even made a profit from transfers in two of the seasons (2022-23 and 2023-24).
If you want to see the full breakdown of the investments made, final positions and more, you can head over to our Substack and try 7 days for free or unlock the Sarri bonus specifically completely for free.
He can start on Monday with Tare. Problem solved on the that front.
Mediocre Italians seems to be the answers to all of Milan’s problems huh? Figures 👌
No, let’s just stick with the foreigners, it’s given us great success since RedBird took over…
Shut up with this foreigner nonsense, literally 8/10 best Milan players in history are foreigners.
Foreigner isn’t the issue you xenophobe. Would you reject Guardiola or Klopp? If no then clearly Foreigner isn’t the issue is it? They keep on making decisions without a clear identity or style they wanted to play
Do you look at the stand? All clubs in front of us on the Serie A chart have an Italian coach.
The last foreign coach to win Serie A was Mourinho in season 09/10 with Inter and before that, Sven Goran Eriksson in season 99/00 with Lazio. So there clearly is a pattern.
Do your research before you insult people, Gerryboy.
Lol, I wasn’t referring to coach but players as well. In my previous comment I’ve been insinuating to get De Zerbi or Faroli. Blaming foreigners for the current problem is dumb. Belescuni did well but the end wasn’t pretty which had a cascade effect to today.
Eddie, in your Country there is no Tradition of Soccer,. Klopp is finished with Training! Pep is a Dream
Sarri is a good Name. There Are no reasons way Conte should Go to the Average AC Milan!
The coach doesn’t play on the Field-
He Implements Systems–For the correct players
I believe given time Conceicao- would do Fine
Changing players year after year –for stability?-
Lets hope they get ut CORRECT this time around
