AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has once again shown his public backing for head coach Stefano Pioli and what he represents.
To say there is a buzz around Milan at the moment would be an understatement as the club secured their first Champions League berth in seven years and they did so by beating their ‘bogey team’ Atalanta away from home. This not only secured a top four spot but also obtained a second-placed finish – the club’s highest since 2011-12.
One man who was instrumental in leading the charge was Pioli, who has certainly had an interesting time at Milan so far, going from being regarded as an interim coach when he first arrived to now being one of the only coaches as Italy’s top clubs to keep his job.
During an interview with La Politica nel pallone, Scaroni was asked about Pioli and sung the praises of the Milan boss, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.
“The waltz of the coaches? Pioli we keep tight. He did very well, he is a gentleman and perfectly embodies the style of Milan that I care a lot about. The coach’s job is very stressful, which is also why there have been several changes.”
