AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has revealed his belief that Paolo Maldini has a general agreement to continue as the club’s technical director.
Milan has officially confirmed RedBird Capital’s takeover of the club after Elliott Management decided to sell the majority of their shares. The club announced the highly-anticipated deal on Twitter and their website on Wednesday morning.
Now, there are questions about what fans can expect to follow up a Scudetto winning campaign, with many holding the ambition that the squad will be strengthened in the summer mercato so as to try and retain the title while also going further in Europe too.
Scaroni spoke during an interview with Sky about the takeover situation and he was asked about Maldini’s future, revealing the details of some dialogue that took place in view of the summer market.
“Elliott has had a crazy ride. In these four years we have put the accounts and also the team in order, so much so that we have won the Scudetto this year,” he said (via MilanNews).
“RedBird is a fund that specialises in sport and therefore I expect that with them there will be a new leap forward for Milan. Today [yesterday] Paolo Maldini spoke with Gerry Cardinale. They met, talked to him about his plans and it seems to me that he has obtained a general agreement. I expect Milan to face this summer transfer market with courage.”
