Scaroni praises Maldini and insists Milan ‘can look to the future with great optimism’

AC Milan president Paolo Scaroni has praised the team for achieving ‘terrific results’ despite the difficulties they have had to battle.

With their win over Napoli on Sunday night, the Rossoneri took yet another big leap forward as they won at the Stadio San Paolo for the first time in over 10 years against another team in red hot form and moved back top of the table.

Some fascinating stats have emerged from Milan’s start to the season too, such as the fact that this is the second time in the era of three points for a win that Milan have picked up at least 20 points during their first eight Serie A matches. The previous time was in 2003-04, which ended in the Rossoneri winning the Scudetto, causing some fans to dream big.

Scaroni spoke to Sky earlier today, with his words transcribed by MilanNews and translated below.

“It is a great satisfaction, here we are all in seventh heaven. We have the youngest team in Europe and we achieve terrific results. Now we have a series of complicated matches, we have some injuries unfortunately,” he said.

Technical director Paolo Maldini continues to be praised for the work he has done in the transfer market, including bringing in players like Kjaer, Bennacer, Hauge, Theo Hernandez and Saelemaekers in bargain deals.

“He too had to learn, no one is born a manager. Then obviously he knows everything about football, so the learning process was faster. An important balance was found, we can look to the future with great optimism,” Scaroni added.
