TMW: De Ligt’s heir at Ajax could follow his path to Serie A but join Juve’s rivals Milan

Ajax’s Perr Schuurs has climbed the hierarchy in the last couple of days in AC Milan’s search for a centre-back signing, according to a report.

According to TMW, there have already been direct contacts between Milan and Ajax to establish the possibility of entering into a negotiation for the 22-year-old defender, who up until this season looked like being the man of the future for the Amsterdam club after they lost Matthijs de Ligt.

Last year he renewed his deal until 2025 but now head coach Erik ten Hag seems to prefer Timber and Lisandro Martinez as his go-to centre-back pairing, which is why rumours have emerged about Schuurs’ possible landing in Serie A.

It cannot be ruled out that he may leave Ajax if a tempting offer arrives this month and Milan are clearly interested in his profile, given he is young but already has good experience and has room to grow.

The player would be happy to follow De Ligt and try an experience in Serie A, but he could end up joining their traditional rivals in the Rossoneri.
