Seedorf questions some of Milan’s choices in Dortmund draw: “A bit random”

By Oliver Fisher -

Clarence Seedorf was not a big admirers of AC Milan’s performance against Borussia Dortmund last night, describing it as a bit ‘random’.

Both sides had big chances in both halves to win the game at the Signal Iduna Park, with Olivier Giroud perhaps having Milan’s best opportunity in the first half and Samuel Chukwueze having two good opportunities of his own when the game stretched out a bit.

Seedorf gave his thoughts on the game as a pundit for Prime Video and he began with a response to Rafael Leao’s assessment of the draw, with his comments relayed by PianetaMilan.

“I liked Leao’s analysis. In the opportunities they had, Milan had to take advantage, clearly one always tries,” he began.

“But I think that Milan’s match wasn’t as lucid, it wasn’t as courageous as it should have been because, when they broke up in the last few minutes, it was also seen that you split the opposing team, you bring them out more. Now it’s up to them to get a result in Paris, for sure,” he said.

“There is also a bit of regret, because Milan – with how much they pushed – opened up and believed in it a little more, they were superior. Maybe it’s the team that is actually superior, but they have to believe in it from the beginning.

“The tactic was: let’s limit the opposing team and try to make counter-attacks and take advantage of the opportunities. I always say: the more chances you manage to create, the more you increase the chance of scoring.

“Theo Hernandez’s choice to go straight for straight, Leao who also goes straight for straight, not to open the field and leave space and have the opposing defenders make a decision what to do… It’s a bit random.

“These are the details that can make the difference, because it’s not certain that then you will find another opportunity like this.”

It is another point and another clean sheet for the Rossoneri, who now sit third in the group with two points, two behind leaders Newcastle United and one behind PSG who they play away and home in the next two games.

  1. “Maybe it’s the team that is actually superior, but they have to believe in it from the beginning.

This right here. We played timidly.when in reality they feared us. Like who gives a crap about a loud stadium which we silenced anyway (which doesn’t happen often there btw). We seemed to not believe in our qualities and the idea that we were superior to them. It was only when we started to create chances that we realized that we might actually be better than them. It’s up to the coach to dissolve that inferiority complex before the game

  2. Pioli is easily intimidated. He is scared of Inter, scared of Newcastle at home, and scared of Dortmund. Results and evidence are laid out in front of everybody’s eyes he cannot hide his flaws. And when the coach himself feels inferior and intimidated, how would you expect the players to feel confident? The leader has no confidence in the first place lol

  3. i think putting pobega instead of adli is the biggest mistake. think Pioli is thinking too defensively, got scared against the mighty dortmund.

i dont think the idea putting Pobega is bad, its just that he had a bad game. Too nervous i think those passes were weird

Then again, its a draw in german. i say its a good result nontheless. Next time in Milan hope we will win.

  4. In seedorf playing days, if we needed to go to Munich in Germany to win, we actually did it. Pioli will undoubtedly field another ridiculous 11 in Paris. Mid table coach

  5. Pioli didnt have a mental of winner. He just lucky last season because milan still have Ibra and Maldini to support team mentality which is full of young player. Now with them both gone, it shows that pioli nothing. Lets just hope pioli didnt hold back or destroy the team.

    1. So Pioli is nothing without Ibra when this season Milan is at the top of the table with Inter (same points) and also still have chances to qualify for the next round in CL?

Some of you are fkin ridiculous and don’t deserve the 19th scudetto and last season semi final CL. You should stay at Milan dark age and enjoy managers like Montella, Seedorf, Brocchi, or Gattuso who can’t even bring Milan back to CL.
