AC Milan have agreements in place with a number of players but the ownership situation must first be resolved before they are officially pushed through, it is claimed.
There continues to be an abundance of speculation regarding what will happen with the ownership situation of Milan given that there have been headlines for weeks now about the probable acquisition by Investcorp and more recently about a rival bid from RedBird capital.
As a result of this it is easy to understand why various operations have been put on stand-by for the time being as it is important to clarify who will be calling the shots from the start of the summer onwards.
Fabrizio Romano spoke to CBS Sports about the upcoming mercato for Milan and in particular how the potential sale of the club to a new fund affects the talks that are currently ongoing.
“They are still negotiating with Investcorp, this group from Bahrain, so we are waiting for updates. Let’s see what happens this week in the conversations,” he said.
“Of course this is really important for AC Milan for the future of the club but also the present of the club I would say. Many players are waiting to sign a new deal and they are waiting for the new owners to come and decide.
“This is Ismael Bennacer, Rafael Leao – who is doing incredible and deserves a new deal but he is still waiting for the new owners to make a final decision on his contract – but also any new signings.
“Milan have a verbal agreement with many players… Sven Botman as new centre-back, same with Divock Origi as new striker, but they can’t sign these deals until they have a new ownership so they are still waiting to resolve the situation.
“Or, if Elliott will stay at the club they will be able to do it. It is still important to understand what will happen and I think in the next few days we will have the full clear situation.”
"I see them signing a new center back, new midfielder, new winger, and a new striker this summer." @FabrizioRomano believes the current Serie A league leaders Milan will have a busy summer. ⚫🔴 pic.twitter.com/UVs9TrlenD

Takeovers don’t happen in an instant, if the club stop being active the club’s will sell these players elsewhere. Surely it’s better for Elliot to finalise the squad investment?
