Simic expresses thanks to Milan after Anderlecht move: “I leave with a big smile”

By Oliver Fisher -

Jan-Carlo Simic thanked the AC Milan fans among others as he bid farewell to the club, having opted to join Anderlecht for the next chapter of his career.

Having arrived from Stuttgart a couple of years ago, it became clear that Simic was a talent that Milan wanted to lean on for the future. He ended up captaining the Primavera side and often played like a defender more mature than his years suggested.

In fact, the 19-year-old made his first team debut last December at a time when there was a crisis in the rearguard, and he scored against Monza off the bench while making six appearances in total under Stefano Pioli.

However, his deal was set to expire in June 2025 and amid stories of a difficult renewal it emerged that Anderlecht had found an agreement with Milan over a permanent transfer, something which was confirmed not long ago.

Simic posted a statement on his Instagram in which he expressed thanks to everyone connected with Milan for their part in his short but sweet spell.

“My dear Milan,

“It’s a moment full of deep emotions for me. Saying goodbye is never easy. It was a wonderful and unforgettable experience with many joys but also delusions.

“This path made me grow as a footballer and as a man. Certain is that I leave with a big smile because I realised my dream of making my professional debut and scoring in Serie A with the Rossoneri shirt.

“I thank all my team-mates, coaches and collaborators with whom I shared small and huge moments. However, the ones I THANK the most is you Milan fans, for the love you showed me and for always making me feel at home.

“All of you will always be in my heart. Thank you AC Milan, I will always be one of you.”

  1. Oh how I love you simic, we will see you again maybe someday, until then all the best wishes in your career. Go with milans love❤❤❤

  2. Big loss. Failure of management not convincing him to sign an extension.
He could have been a long term CB for the club.

  3. I wouldn’t have left if I was him. Leaving a big club like Milan for a small fish like Anderlecht at 19 years of age is not what I would do if I had his talent. Playing for Milan should always rank higher than that little extra pay he will get now. Had he stuck out a year more he would probably have gotten more chances in the Serie A and had a good chance on continuing to grow in Milan.

    1. Yeah before you write your nice story read some articles…he wanted first team action, but he was sent to milan futuro…that’s why he left what is more than reasonable…we will regret this failure of these incompetents

  4. I wonder if milan inserted a buy back clause for him, coz i believe he would be a very good defender many days from now… Goodbye simic, i hope i could see u again in redblack jersey

  5. The key point is that you were and will never be in his position. Cut that bullish. He dedicated his life for football, I am 💯 percent sure he knows what he is doing better than you!

It’s 1 trillion percent better to go to Anderlecht with guaranteed starting spot than being a captain in Milan Futuro team and HOPING to slide into starting spot in main squad.

If he succeeds in Belgium, he will easily have a chance to sign with waaay bigger clubs than Milan. (When I say bigger, I am talking about PRESENT, not some dummy history)

  6. Yes, and everyone here treated the kid like he’s the next baresi. It turns out he was worth only 3 million, and only a team from belgium were interested. Too bad the rest of the footballing world doesn’t share your insights into player abilities

  7. Better milan to keep him than buy some player like emerson that cost almost 20m ( money transfer and his salary ). I dont understand this milan management. No one like Galliani and berlusconi that they drive milan club like his family ??
